Re: Improving the sound engine

Let me express, once more, my deep honor, to all guys who worked on the ZSNES sound engine. Donkey Kong sounds like never before. :D 2.0 will probably employ a hardware accurate mixer, so different resampling options are straight out. So is the sample rate setting, since a hardware accurate mixer al...

Re: Improving the sound engine

You know you can connect a real SNES to a sound system too, right? Yes I know this. Unfortunately, I don't have a SNES console anymore. I also have no surround receiver. Only ZSNES with a simulate surround sound switch I like and an Audigy 2 . If you like, I can port that surround filter to a DSP f...

Re: Improving the sound engine

It's really impressive, when you first here the SNES sound via console through TV's speakers and then via ZSNES through a 5.1 sound system. Thanks again to the ZSNES guys for that incredible new sound experience! :D If you could tickle out a crystal clear sound of the instruments, this would be exce...

As long as zsnes.com is up, ZSNES can't be dead.

Re: Improving the sound engine

It wouldn't have been a bad thing if you were on the ZSNES ABOUT list. Well, maybe for v2.0 then. I would state: SNES sounded damn good. ZSNES sounds better. (At least as for "Simulate Surround Sound" with "Cubic Spline") http://www.greensmilies.com/smile/smiley_emotico...

Re: Improving the sound engine

Thanks a lot for that. It definitely sounds better with it. Hmm.., as I see, you are not on the ZSNES ABOUT list. I only see PHARAOS, TEUF, GRINVADER... No kode54. Has somebody forgotten to put you on the list? :) Rather, it calculates the average of the left and right channels, subtracts... Whateve...

Re: Improving the sound engine

If "Simulate Surround Sound" is "inverting the left channel", then one has had a good idea. I like it. Everything sounds more atmospheric. Who made this "Simulate Surround Sound"? Pharaos? grinvader? I also tried Snes9X, but the sound of ZSNES sounds better to my ears. ...

Improving the sound engine

I really have to say, I like the "Simulate Surround Sound" switch. It adds more atmosphere. Good work! However, I miss the attention to detail like the one from SNESamp with settings "High quality" and "Sample Rate: 48000". I loaded some *.spc samples from Donkey Kong C...

Sounds like a sound channel extension and a difficult task. :)

Re: Improving the sound engine

The used channel doesn't get its 'normal' output back until the next key on event in the partition Yeah, this makes sense, because when I move further and thus a new sound effect appears, the normal output is back. Is it possible to eliminate this so that at any time all sound effects are present, ...

Re: Improving the sound engine

Unfortunately, my PC is not strong enough for bsnes. :| Therefore I deal with ZSNES. I have an issue with multiple sounds of the music in Donkey Kong Country 3 and I don't know if it's ZSNES or sound card related: Sometimes one sound disappears and I don't hear it anymore. This happens for example w...

This may be, but Cubic Spline sounds better, clearer. :D I would set Cubic Spline to default.
For ZSNES 2.0 I would expect Cublic Spline 2.0 at best.

Re: Improving the sound engine

Gaussian interpolation will make it sound more like the original (as much as it can with the current core, at least). Which is... good ? You tell me. OK. Test game: Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (has no native surround sound (only stereo)): Interpolation: None > sounds kinda d...

This is my sound config (5.1 sound system). Sounds pretty good, but could it sound better?

Yeeeeehaaa! I will wait for v2.0 then. I expect mind-blowing sound. :D Thx for the good sound engine anyway. ZSNES rules. With, or without the S, but it's ZSNES. :D

Improving the sound engine

What about improving the ZSNES sound engine. Is there a way to get more details out of the sound? I mean the sound is already good, but maybe you could make the sound better for the ultimate Donkey Kong feeling.
