Amm... If you made a back-up of your roms and are reading them from the cd, you won't be able to save states unless you redirect the savestate saves to another folder... That is what I can guess anyway.

Are you using the latest version of Zsnes? If you are, try using an older version, and see if you get the same errors, that's all I can think for now, sorry.

Have you already tried reinstalling Directx? Also to hambury: you should download driver cleaner, sometimes there are conflicts when installing different drivers in a machine, so try uninstalling your drivers, then use driver cleaner for both nvidia detonators and catalyst, then install your catalys...
