Tell that to my wrist, which develops a sweat rash within a few hours of putting a watch on. Unless you know a nice wristband that covers the entire wrist, including under the watch, that wicks away sweat, and that doesn't become a mineral soaked mess that you have to throw away within a month or two.

Re: April Fools and ZSNES
Since I love to be a spoil sport, here is the code you need to look at. This bit of code checks the date for 0x401, April 1st, then using the seconds field of the current time to call: https://github.com/emillon/zsnes/blob/master/src/gui/gui.asm#L1076-L1087 ...this function, horizon get: https://git...

Re: Issues with compiling ZSNES (v1.51) these days... :(
Aha, one level of indirection missing. Adding & fixes it.
It's reading one level too deep, producing your "f:\d" into a pointer.
Code: Select all
zmain(argc, &argv);

Re: Issues with compiling ZSNES (v1.51) these days... :(
To eliminate the warning, change to:
Code: Select all
char * argv[2] = { &arg, 0 };

If that's a C source file, you'll have to declare them at the top of the function, though.

Make them "argc" and "argv", and remove the & from that GetModuleFileName call.

Re: Issues with compiling ZSNES (v1.51) these days... :(
Problem. It seems you may be initializing a Unicode build, or maybe not, I'm not sure. I just know you can't trust those __argv variables to be initialized properly by the C runtime. The safest bet is to steal the UTF-8 runtime type stuff from FLAC for Windows, and use it to initialize the zmain fun...

Have you even verified that whatever is calling zmain is passing in a valid zargv? Dereferencing a null pointer will always cause a crash.

Re: ZSNES not working with DOSBox
If I remember correctly:
1) All ports make use of MMX.
2) Dosbox is unlikely to ever support MMX instructions.
3) There's a Mac port of ZSNES, so you could try to use that instead.

Re: Running ZSNES On Android
That is how Windows 7 and up software registers its *INTENT* to open a file type. Usually, this does not take over a file type unless nothing else is associated with it. On Windows 10, until an association has been confirmed by the user, it will pop up a dialog asking if the user wishes to open the ...

Hmm, I don't remember if it uses user associations or global associations. I know the latter requires running the application as administrator, or disabling UAC.

Re: Running ZSNES On Android
I think it's still affecting you because you're running Windows XP, or running Windows 7 with UAC disabled. Yes, this feature should be *changed* to support the Windows 7+ method of handling things, which is to register the file types with the *intent* to support them, but they won't associate until...

Re: Running ZSNES On Android
Not like anything can magically change your system-wide associations... on Windows Vista and above, if you have UAC enabled. Per-user associations may still be meddled with on up to 8.1. On Windows 10, nothing can meddle with associations directly, only announce an intent to support specific formats...

Re: 10 years since Zsnes v1.51
Why does it make you cringe? Will you be losing support for running a decade old emulator on your decade old operating system and apparently also decade old computer? I always assumed that people who chose to use old hardware naturally wanted to continue using obsolete software as well. Supporting d...

As if any of my software development has been anything but reacting to one need or another, rather than simply spontaneously creating something that nobody thought of before. And this post was lovingly created as a reaction to your true accusation of this forum being full of reactionaries.

I liked it, so I obviously have Poor Taste. I can't watch it over because I have the entire series memorized, like most shows I actually liked. And clearly, peace with the Cardassians was not worth ceding territory to them and leaving dozens of weirdos who are unsatisfied with living in Eden homeles...

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
Just finished SotN PSP version, and was not terribly disappointed by the new translation, or by the lack of I Am The Wind. I even noticed on replay that they included a translation of Nocturne that wasn't too shabby, either. I also didn't even notice that replay mode is harder even without the luck ...

Gil: You'd like how ElkArte handles embedding videos like that. It only embeds the cover frame, fetched directly from YouTube, and hides it behind a Click To Play type thing before loading the actual player.

With ZSNES, it's more along the lines of, "Which emulation features will require a complete and total rewrite of the emulator?" It takes so many shortcuts, they cannot easily be counted off. Here are the ones I can remember off hand: 1) 5A22 <-> SPC700 opcodes are executed in an opcode to ...

Don't forget that the Saturn version only came in Japanese, and that included the extra areas, and extra boss battles, (Maria, and the normal and mirrored garden areas, I don't recall if mirrored also had a boss.).
