Re: Has anyone tried to modify ZSNES with a better sound cor
Try ZMZ, it Snes9x with the Zsnes GUI, using Libretro cores, so it's the best of both worlds; Zsnes has horrendously inaccurate S-SMP emulation >< http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=67700 You can't even play Earthworm Jim 2 on Zsnes with full sound effects lol. I've read a lot of people ...

Re: Has anyone tried to modify ZSNES with a better sound cor
The SMW ROM hacking community has quite a bit of legacy cruft, including specific hacks but also tools that people probably still use, which depends on zsnes. And attempts to wean people off them and migrate them to doing things that actually work on a Super Nintendo just result in a lot of bitchin...

Re: Has anyone tried to modify ZSNES with a better sound cor
I love ZSNES ^_^ and will always prefer it.. I don't really like SNES9x much... :( Try ZMZ, it Snes9x with the Zsnes GUI, using Libretro cores, so it's the best of both worlds; Zsnes has horrendously inaccurate S-SMP emulation >< http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=67700 You can...

Re: Has anyone tried to modify ZSNES with a better sound cor
There's always that version of Snes9x that uses a Libretro code with a Zsnes GUI, called ZMZ I think.

BizHawk has Bsnes, another possible alternative.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
Update: I managed to get my hands on a SD2SNES for not cheap (don't ask). Gonna continue working on stuff now. I'm using it with a wifi SD card so it works perfectly for my needs. Shit it was expensive though I hope it doesn't fuck up. I'm gonna eat ramen for a while. Fair enough, take your time, m...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
I have all the equipment I need right now but if you want to donate there is a link on the front page. Just to be clear this would be a donation and I'm not charging for ZSNES, I don't want that to get out of hand again. If you want to donate beer/pizza money then you can use that link and it would...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
So I am working on ZSNES 100% of my time now for the rewrite of something great after being laid off from my previous job which prevented me from working on ZSNES extensively (explains the lack of updates). So until I secure another job I will be doing this bribing ZSNES to the current standards an...

No one's faulting you or trying to call you out, if anything, we wish for the best. Other people on the internet, though, they're just pricks.

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
I see where you're coming from but I oppose the idea of charging for emulators, so like nintendo_nerd said it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask for donations and such so at least ZSNES, if continued, stays free. Personally I'd rather ZSNES remain as it is and retain its amazing legacy than become for-p...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
It won't be free and future ZSNES releases won't because we have reached the point where we can't work for free like slave labour for a "cause". Time is money friend. Hopefully the death of zsnes then. Better off dead than commercial and closed. I think at the very least a fundraiser or s...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
I currently don't have the financial budget to continue working on ZSNES so I will be putting it aside for the time being. I have other stuff to do and irl stuff. This may change later but there isn't really any incentive for me to continue working on it. I won't release binaries because I may come...

Re: ZSNES is not dead - Still in development
Just an update since I have been silent for a while. My computer is toast so I have no idea when or if I will continue working on things. I only have a 8 year old laptop which is not suitable for development and I have a lot of other expenses right now. So i am not sure what the future of ZSNES is ...

Re: ZSNES 1.53 Changelog
It's not a stripped-down MS-DOS, it's the same command interpreter on an almost completely unrelated OS. Saying it's a stripped-down MS-DOS is like saying the original Apple Macintosh is a stripped-down Xerox STAR. There's some related history and superficial similarities on the surface, but they'r...

DOSbox is a poor man's crutch. True, but we can thank Microsoft for fucking us over by removing all but command prompt in newer OSes -_- Command prompt is still there. It's just not useful for DOS gaming because the underlying kernel and level of hardware access is completely different. Basically, ...
