Foobar2000 0.9 is officially released. http://www.foobar2000.org/
I'm not using it because it doesn't have an ASIO or Volume component yet. I've heard they've not even started working on an ASIO component because there is no API for output components >.<.

The sound interpolation options all sound pretty much the same to my ears, as does the frequency (once it is above 32kHz). The only options that make a big difference are the lowpass options. These can sound really good if you are using a 2.1 speaker arrangment or similar. Try a game with some &quo...

I use these settings for imho the clearest sound quality (not true to snes however): Sampling rate: 48khz Interpolation: 8-Point Low-pass: none (btw it's best to use a samplerate that your soundcard can actually output. For an audigy that means you HAVE to use 48khz, because lower samplerate WILL be...

needs m4a support. M4A == AAC+ == MPEG-4 Audio. Actually it's more like: AAC = LC-AAC = MPEG-4 Audio AAC+ = HE-AAC = MPEG-4 Audio + SBR LC = Low complexity (high bitrate) HE = High Efficency (low bitrate) SBR = Spectral Band Replication ( = same technology that mp3ro uses) M4A and MP4 are just cont...

Foobar is much better than Winamp: - stable (one of most important reasons why i changed from winamp to foobar) - no bloat (useless skins or whatever) - highly costumizable - replaygain (add and play) - good 24/32 bit sound support - discwriter (to convert to any other format with tags) Pros that Fo...

I don't understand why some people think they want to play 256x224 games in HD anyway. Because some people like to see the effect of the filter (like 2xsai) they used. Personally i use xsnes9x on my xbox with the flicker filter off and admame2x filter. It looks really absolutely great to me. But of...

In my experience a 640*480 works best for tv-out (with 2xsai for example). Why? Because the number of horizontal lines of a NTSC tv is 480, so you want to match those lines for a sharp picture. Btw disable the flicker filter at your tv-out settings. The picture will be much sharper and more detailed...

It's not about ripping and tearing effects. It's about smoothness of scrolling. Try a game like Addams family or Krusty's Super Funhouse. Run about a bit and you'll see choppiness when the refreshrate is different than 60hz. 60hz + setting auto framerate to 0 will make games run perfect (but you'll ...

Well, low pass literaly means letting lower frequencies pass while removing the high frequencies. Mp3 uses it to make files smaller. High frequencies are very hard to compress so it uses a low pass filter to remove the high frequencies. After that the sound will be much easier to compress because it...

tested on SoE and SoM... [Zsnes v1.42, Zsnes WIP vNov05.2005] -> Dynamic Low Pass seems to produce multiple sound glitches.. (also read that in another topic before) <means> use Hi Quality Using 8-Point Interpolation instead of Cubic Spline doesn't make any audible differerence to me so i'm using C...

- Use an emulator that works in 256 color mode (zsnes dos?) - Disable the other layers except sprites - Make a 256 color snapshot - Open the picture in picture editor - Alter the black background color to another color (like pink) by changing that color in the pallette - Now you should have picture ...

Oh you're right about CMSS. My mistake.
But does Zsnes have 24bit support? And has the "shiny" Audigy even got true 24bit capability? I highly doubt it: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22019
