I just know that when one or two of the 512MB sticks is in there, it will not complete post, much begin the boot process into XP. It started to work once they were taken out and just the 2048MB stick was in. After that, it worked.

Reinstalled XP and originally it was still giving me the STOP: 0x0000007E code, so, experimented by taking out sticks of RAM and eventually pinpointed it to x2 512MB modules the motherboard didn't like, so right now, it's working infinitely better.

*Whew*... Well, it seemed that, despite the fact that the jumper settings were in the correct position, it refused to load the drivers for the NIC and sound. So, after I got the new Asus motherboard, surprise, surprise, the NIC and sound finally started to work! Was it mere coincidence? I think not;...
