Er, wasn't a point I made earlier that not everybody needs to buy a top-end video card with half a gig of ram? That's what my comment on the sims 2 was about. It on integrated graphics is generally shitty, but you don't need a series 8 card for it. I have a habit of not quoting so it gets kind of ha...

Yes, but not for playing sims 2 at 1024x768. XD I'm saying not everybody needs that much, as older games usually only support 4x or 2x, and people don't generally run the highest resolution because they complain things are too small to see on their monitors. So yes, it's good, but a lot of the time ...

Gil: Well, once you throw in high resolution textures (which of course people changing graphics settings have no idea what it means) and 8XAA, you can run into the 400MB range with some games. But msot keep it 100-200. Pagefault: I'm assuming we have to wait until it's actually got ap roduct page on...

As a note of red steel, I haven't played it, but poorly designed, porly executed, and poorly programmed are entirely different things. You can have a gave that plays like shit have no holes at all, and something like super mario galaxy be the one to allow this modification. casuals: Psh, go read som...

Radeon 3400 HD series.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/03/amd_radeon_hd_3400_series_coming/ For those of you that don't know, ATI's HD 38xx series is the competitor to nvidia's 8-series cards... though they are not as good as anything above the 320/640 meg GTS models. So Nvidia's had the top of the market with the GTS...

GeForce 9800 GX2.
Article For a high-end series 9 card, It'd better perform at least 30% faster than an 8800 Ultra. Any guesses on the pricing and availability? A gig of VRAM seems a bit much, though. I can bet most of the people buying cards with half a gig of VRAM, even, are playing games at 1024x768 and wasting m...

bahamut: Default setup of $1,600 laptop. Notice how the processor is 1.6ghz and it's only got a gig of ram. It's got an 8700M. But only a gig of ram and a <2ghz processor. ... do they hire little girls to set these things up? link: I meant like, other software. Not the OS. No use pirating the iLife ...

Nah, then they'd have a big problem with software piracy, and would be losing the profits they get from buying computer parts from the manufacturers and reselling them at a markup. At least with normal computer manufacturers, what you pay for is the support, and not the $250 of (totally kickass for ...

Panzer: No, it's because your hand and crotch love eachother so much. myst: The GBA isn't a CRT, and since the games are made for a small screen, professional developers make the text easy to read. You have seen the fan translation, right? The text would be hard to read if it was on a GBA. http://up...

deathlike: I'm pretty sure I already explained the woolsey thing... blackmyst: I'm talking about the fan translation that uses custom fonts.
