The Live! 5.1 is definitely the better choice, but you have nothing to lose by trying the onboard audio too, just disable it in your BIOS and uninstall the drivers if you decide to not use it. I've been using the onboard audio on my Abit board (nVIDIA SoundStorm with a Realtec 5.1 AC'97 codec) with ...

It looks like you have a good grasp of how to work with your router, but you're only halfway there. You need to fill in the local IP address on the forwarding page with the IP address (192.168.1.xxx according to one of your screenshots) of your computer. Neither screenshot has them filled in. If the...

And all of the functions of DirectX can be executed in software, accelerated in hardware, or usually a combination of both, accelerating what your hardware can do and emulating the rest in software. Try running dxdiag and disabling Direct Draw acceleration. ZSNES runs perfectly at a full 60 fps on m...

Making the emulator make use of the graphics card would be nice. I have a P4 3ghz + 1gig RAM and I still get slowdowns on FF3. :? Your system is more than adequate to run ZSNES, even if you had a graphics card that had no hardware acceleration whatsoever. There's probably something in the backgroun...

is mag media any good? kodak gold? akai? Lazer's? I'd stick to name brand discs. They really aren't much more expensive and they're a lot more reliable. The off-brand ones are probably all rebrands of the same Chinese brands. TDK is probably the best, since most of their discs are Japanese made Tai...

0:1 is the IDE bus location and has nothing to do with the drive's capabilities. DVD burners are pretty much all the same these days. They're all rebranded drives from only a couple of manufacturers. I have a Lite-On 8x ($90 3 years ago) and a Sony 16x ($35 at Walmart last year) and they perform pre...

Wikipedia knows all and agrees with Nach. You're SOL.Wikipedia wrote:HyperThreading was present in all Northwood CPUs, but was disabled in the core in all but the 3.06 GHz model.
If you want a cheap upgrade, check this out. Only $89 for a 3.0 GHz Prescott.
I haven't used IPCop, but I've had a SmoothWall running at my parents' house for years and it works really well. It does seem like IPCop has more active development going on, though, while SmoothWall 3.0 has been in it's alpha stage for like 2 years.
