pSX 1.7 / 1.8 WIP problems (!) I had major issues with this (1.8 WIP) release: 2-D games such as Metal Slug (J) and Zanac X Zanac [in the old-school 8-bit mode] have serious problems with sprites not displayed,Metal Slug is unplayable at a point very early in the game.Zanac's 8-bit game freezes afte...

Sadly,it doesn't run Music 2000 (MTV Music Generator) :(
Only ePSXe can run this one, other emulators freeze or black-screen.

The closest I can select with DDraw/D3D is 848x480,but not 896x672.It is a limitation of DD/D3D .
Well I can pull a full 60 fps and even faster with fast forward on my 9800 pro.
9800Pro,on the other hand is a different kind of beast :)

The 600x448 size is hardcoded into the filter. Let people bitch about letterboxing. Those of us with eyes will appreciate the proper aspect ratio and non-blurry scanlines. I appreciate proper aspect ratio, and I don't mind letterboxing.Actually,I love to see the black bars in PAL mode. The only perf...

The only place I've seen 512x448 used is in the SNES Test Program.(the hi-res star and service mario patterns)

ZSNES WIP - Questions, bugs and a few minor requests

A few questions about ZSNES,some bugs I found and a few minor requests --------------------------------- 1. Is there a decent list of documented SNES games that use the hi-res mode, pointing out which games use pseudo hi-res,standard hi-res (512x224) and true hi-res (512x448)? I haven't seen anything...

I think the LQxX filter does the same thing as the HQxX filter, minus the antialiasing. But I can't notice any difference between the two in GBA games.LQ is slightly faster than HQ. What about the XxPM (PM) filter? A version of VBA (I think it was VBASmooth) had this filter.I can't find any info abou...

Hmmm...it may be 16:9,cause my TV is one of those "extended res ones" so it displays them in 16:9 instead.I've measured the resulting display on the TV and it's *exactly* 16:9 (1.7777777 x 1)

It's probably because those 256 pixels are stretched to 320 for NTSC

About PAL SNES and PAL SNES TV output: 1. PAL TVs don't have horizontal scanlines at all,but the PAL SNES outputs video WITH scanlines .On some TVs (older ones) they're barely noticeable (like 25% or less scanlines intensity selected in emulator),on some newer ones (that support PAL60),they are very...

I'm going to have my digital snes to record some uncompressed wav files of popular games in a few weeks. When I do, they will be made available for an objective and subjective comparison. bsnes can output wav files, so it should be easy to obtain virgin wavs from it. I dunno about sneese or others....

3D sound tricks are mostly applied to FPS.. sadly. What about RPGs and driving/flight sims? They are mostly needed there, not just in FPS. Gee, wouldn't that pretty SNR have the same improvement for music and movies as well as games? I'll keep an eye out on this product. I wouldn't count on it,cause...

Yes,that's exactly how a good old large-screen SABA PAL TV looks like :) The colors are excellent and there's no noticeable "interlacing" (scanlines) when viewing the screen normally. The vertical RGB stripes are really noticeable at low distances, and the mesh of cells can be seen at very l...

96kHz exists to: - prevent aliasing of high-quality sounds, especially FM,RM or analog-based synthesized sounds. - improve resampling quality, especially used by X-Fi's DSP resampling algorithm - improve the flatness of the frequency response curve of the soundcard (like the benefit having perfect gam...

I'm thinking a card with the VIA Envy24HT would be good. Supports up to 24/96khz (says 192khz, but who knows), and as low as 32khz with no resampling, bit-perfect ASIO output. byuu, that's the chipset most Terratec cards use (when I mentioned the cards from Terratec as the competition) P.S. I can't ...

So it all comes down to proprietary extensions for existing APIs then...and the aggressive marketing
And also as I see,OpenSource is kind of a double-edged sword

and for the X-Fi, it beats out professional sound cards in quality as well. ...not really.Just take a look at the E-MU 1212m card from E-MU systems http://www.emu.com (owned by Creative). That's what I call quality. It's based on the "old" Audigy2 chip, but equipped with a killer set of DACs...

Audigy4 = slightly better DACs,but a lot better ADCs,better software and driver package than Audigy2 = better quality overall. Drivers for X-Fi are not awful.DACs are not that inferior as you think,if you get one of the higher-end cards. But the price is very high for the upper models with X-RAM (&q...

"The Audigy series is nor better than the Live/512 series IMO" It's the Audigy 1 that's not better than the live/512 series. With Audigy2/ZS they've done what the Audigy 1 was supposed to do,but it didn't.Most of the shortcomings and design issues were addressed, although the bad resampling...

You shouldn't hate Creative now. They are on the right track with X-Fi
(albeit their only good cards are still very expensive, because of that Fatal1ty crap)

SBLive! resamples, and does it even worse than Audigy cards, bah!

The 96000Hz samplerate option is NOT to make the sound better or any different than what the SNES can do.It is more to preserve the sound and get it as CLOSE to the SNES as possible, for users of Audigy (10k2)-based cards. The Audigy2 can operate at 48 or 96kHz (192kHz is useless marketing crap) When...

Have you tried listening to the music from Front Mission 2: Gun Hazard in SNESAmp? There is a huge difference between 32kHz-to 48 and 32-to-96kHz,especially when using Cubic interpolation and Stereo HQ,although there is benefit with Gaussian interpolation as well. The GH music is very rich in high f...

It would be great if ZSNES automatically sets VSYNC ON and switches display refresh to 120Hz or 60 Hz when this filter is active. But what about PAL games? Is it kinda odd when running PAL roms with this filter enabled? There needs to be another filter for PAL as well.PAL video looks (colors,gamma,b...
