It's a matter of time. Right now, I think people can forgive accuracy if their games play within a reasonable rate... it's happened with most emus that didn't quite have the resources at the time, so this trend will continue until the hardware is capable or someone is really good at optimizing (try...

Like RHDN? That's not really suited for emulator development. Especially mixing in modern docs with antiques that are seriously flawed. I see that they at least added some general comments to the older docs to warn about this now, but I honestly don't think that goes far enough. Don't get me wrong,...

From what I barely can remember from the last time I played it, I think the scroll/spell names are all stored as graphics, and there might be a good number of those. I bet there's a whole bunch of stuff I've forgotten though. I think I missed this reply. Since the thread is already back from the de...

The K-lite standard codec pack comes with FFDSHOW and really doesn't install all that much else. The full version has a bunch unnecessary extras though. Besides that, during installation, almost everything is OPTIONAL. You can install as little or as much as you want. I don't see how it's better or ...

I was looking for a sound card that frees up the CPU a bit (Creative X Gamer?) with a bunch of flippin' features. What other company is decent these days? I would say an ASUS Xonar http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132006 There are also numerous PCI solutions that aren't by c...

I'm starting to think some people completely overestimate the demand for a game being translated. Probably true. This discussion is taking place in the emulation and ROM hacking community, a group of X thousand people where translations and retro gaming are in more demand than new games to some deg...

Regardless of legality of reverse engineering, or distribution, many in the ROM hacking community seem to agree it's 100% illegal, no questions asked thanks to the Berne Convention . You simply cannot create legal unauthorized translations... So all the other things discussed in this topic don't mat...

The curious in me just wants to know why, if bandwidth on his current host is so sparse that small gains from UPX are needed to conserve it, it is so hard to find a host where this is not an issue? Surely, the most generous thing you can do for a host who suffers from that extra 600mb a month is to...

SR 60's are quite the best headphone you can buy for $60. I don't know about that. For $68 (I got them a bit cheaper from Amazon a year or so ago), I have the Sony MDR-V6 and they really give the Grados a run for their money. Professionals have used these in the music, movie, and TV industries for ...

Since this topic has been resurrected, I'll toss in this: I certainly don't mind if any of my hacks don't play right due to improving accuracy of the emulator such as that Dual Orb 2 issue. That might even persuade me to dust off the cobwebs and fix it. :) The real matter is the old stuff that would...

I just tried out the February 15th binary this weekend and I must say I appreciate the efforts of this project. Your version of VBA-M looks, sounds, and plays better than any other single version I've previously used on the few games I tried. I'm sure the eventual official release will be a good one...

You add 69.50.240.226 nsrt.edgeemu.com To your hosts file, at this point you may need to reset your browser, then you navigate to http://nsrt.edgeemu.com, this is not complicated. That's kind of ridiculous to expect all users to edit files on their computer to view a web page. If NSRT actually move...

Blu Ray is certainly a completely new kind of technology. Disagreement: changing the wavelength of the reading beam is everything but a COMPLETELY NEW KIND OF TECHNOLOGY. HD-DVD stuff was also mainly a change in wavelength. It's the same physical laws, the same results, same limitations, same every...

But what other reasons are there for not releasing one's sources? If it's not money, if it's not legal obligations, what is it? Why keep something secret? I'm not saying anyone should have to release their code -- I just want to know why they wouldn't. 1. The code is too 'crappy' for a public relea...

But does any person doing his/her hobby owe anybody anything? You seem to imply people are owed any information an individual discovers during their hobbyist work. That just sounds silly to me. Can it be greatly beneficial to a community? Certainly yes, but they're not obligated to share anything by...
