Why would there ever be more than 4 analog axes per controller? Humans only have two thumbs.

Mirror download. bsnes.exe (non upx compress.) and src in one. http://coonstation.googlepages.com/bsnes_v041.zip I use the 7zip to compress. This is what MAME people do. No more upx complaining. Awesome, I didn't see this before. On my work computer (P4), the uncompressed program loads up almost in...

* Executable compression should be a choice and should stay with BSNES. In fact, it should force AV developers to improve thier detection methods. Not the other way around, were end users have to work around the antivirus program. If you have a better idea, I would love to hear it. It's not a matte...

A bug in Qt 4.4 w/QGtkStyle forced me to always specify something for a path. A blank startup directory throws all kinds of warnings to stdout. So I defaulted to the startup path. Well, I guess it's sort of impossible for "last loaded from" to be an accurate description on first-run anywa...

Doesn't bsnes remember the folder you last loaded from?
No. At least not for me on my WindowsXP.

EDIT:
Btw, it only happens after the Qt rewrite.
Wow, you're right. It remembers it until the emulator closes, then it goes back to the root dir. At least defining a path still works.

Byuu, I remember you were always against it, but is there a chance you might reconsider putting in a history feature? Just the top 5 most recently played would be really nice. I'm playing CT again and it's kind of a pain to have to navigate to the rom every time I run bsnes. Doesn't bsnes remember ...

I don't like the flashing light system. There are a lot of people who never see it, and when they do, they can't remember what it means. Whatever time it's trying to save, it's not worth risking lives. There are also countries that use yellow as a "get ready" from stop to go, which also su...

The latter is transparent to the user, the former is not. You've calculated how many runs it would take for the delay caused by decompression to exceed 1 second and it never does? I don't trust them to not pull the plug when / if I get a massive bandwidth spike. If you can't do it with one location...

I don't refuse to fix Mecarobot Golf or Megalomania for relying on obscure HDMA timing conditions, saying the game should be more like other games. I fix my emulator (while simultaneously bitching about how poorly programmed the game is.) So you're comparing your decision to bad code in Mecarobot G...

UPX does not add to the "alphabet soup of compression formats" because it is self-extracting. Why would its self-extracting nature absolve it? Do developers not expend time learning about it and using it? Do users and those trying to help them not expend time troubleshooting false positiv...

And size does matter. To an extent, then the costs incurred by going further begin to outweigh the benefits. Here's a fun analogy. 100 years ago, when a dollar unit was 30x more valuable relative to a loaf of bread, picking a sticky penny up off the street was worth the effort and risk expended to ...

Couples of criticisms:

(a) It feels like I'm abusing the equipment, I want to relax the cord
(b) symmetrical balance is lost
(c) my mind is expecting the cord to reappear somewhere near the bottom now. It can't be expected to believe that a 6ft cord is hiding behind the controller.

I recommend sticking to the controller thread for art suggestions this time. Responses to your ideas sort of took over the last one. hmmmm may be u should release bsnes unpacked too That wouldn't make sense either, compression of some kind definitely saves bandwidth. I just think self-extracting cod...

Specialized compression for executables is a defunct idea. UPX on both the user and developer end consumes more time than it saves.

That's your opinion Fitz. Those older buttons are quite off on the colors. I like the newer ones better. You're not even using your own colors from the scan. Your blue is way darker relative to other colors in the render than what you scanned. Also, not diffusing light across the surface made your ...

That's a bit better (first page), I'd use that one with the oak background. A white background makes the shadows seem too dark, a black one would eliminate it completely, a transparent one has no shadow despite surface objects having them and doesn't resolve the cord cutoff by distinguishing a frame...

I don't know if this would work, but: 1. print a square of all 4 colors at known values to a sheet of superwhite paper 2. put that sheet next to the controller and put both that and the controller on a good color scanner 3. use broad adjustments on the resulting image until the sheet values match wh...

Dell recently released a 22" e-IPS monitor that's about $225 with a sale. Unfortunately, it's not 1080p.

Leaving the cord out looks really strange to me.

I also prefer the current dropdown with scrollable list to a web of buttons and lines. What are you going to do about the multitaps, the controller port selections, the GUI? You'll have 20 tabs and it will all be outside of the main configuration area because it's too much stuff to show as buttons a...

Hey, so are you still going to redo the button reflections? He did, but the old ones were better. The colors also seemed to have been made more pastel as well. I'd be curious to see the top version with the only difference being a white background and no dropshadows. http://xs137.xs.to/xs137/09112/...
