SNES' native displayed aspect ratio is 4:3 though (via the traditional TV's analog stretching).

Third video also lags, about half the nominal framerate or so. kode54: I've used ffdshow's MJPEG encoder (since it's free) at a 85% quality setting. Encoding time is about the same as with Huffyuv, but the resulting file is almost 1/6 in size (1.7 GB instead of 10). Playback is fast enough too - so ...

Crappy DSL, or ISDN? DSL. ( link ) Anyway, if you're into transcoding your videos for faster playback, I recommend using motion JPEG over Huffyuv, it compresses better and still decodes faster. Or at least, I think it does. I haven't performed any conclusive tests. Mmmh... I'll look into it, and do...

creaothceann: Is your machine fast enough to play these videos at full framerate: CLICK ME #1 <-- VC-1 720p Nope, not really. DirectShow gives me a "could not render graph" error, so I had to use MPlayer. With a video length of 30 seconds and a playback time of 135 seconds, this calculate...

A standard graphics card will work fine.

ZSNES uses DirectX for vsync/triple buffering, fullscreen and stretching the image, not for fancy 3D or shader effects.

Even CoreAVC isn't fast enough to play back newer anime MKVs on my PC. I open the h.264 video stream with AviSynth, apply the subtitles and save it with ffdshow's HuffYUV codec. ( http://i31.tinypic.com/mtwohx.jpg ) At the end the video is much larger (about half a GB per minute for 1280x720 @ 24 fp...

So is there a way to patch or tweak the video settings in ZSNES to overcome the black lines repeating instead of the map lines? ZSNES needs to emulate that specific hardware feature. You'd also have to add another global variable, which would affect savestates. Info can be found in this text file: ...

Huh... the graphics on BG2 look like this:

A mosaic size of 2x2 is used to fill the empty lines. If ZSNES' mosaic implementation somehow has a "off by 1" bug it would repeat the black lines instead.

Downloading and extracting it into a new directory works fine too, no need to delete anything.

That's already good enough, imo.

You could look at the tasvideos emulator sources, and ask in the forum.

ah. but in NTSC and PAL land, one frame is 1/30 or 1/25 of a second. At 50 FPS, you have 20 ms between two frames (1000/50). It's 1/50 of a second. Where do you get your "1/30" or "1/25" numbers from? "50 fps" (or 60) is the number of fields per second. In interlaced m...

There are few games that use interlaced video though.

filouk, I recommend using ZSNES's or SNES9x's (bluetoaster.net/emu/) AVI recording.
You can then convert it with tools like VirtualDubMod, AviSynth and Animation Shop.

It seems that ZSNES saves 239 lines only when the game enables the "overscan" mode (239 lines instead of 224), regardless of region or fps. "SNES Test Program (U)" also uses 239 lines.

I'll try some more games...

All titles screens I've seen are 256x224. The American version of KI also has a 256x224 title screen. So I wonder why KI(E) has a higher title screen. It's weird, when you press Esc to pause Zsnes, you can see the height of the screen increase. KI (E) is a PAL game, hence the higher resolution. htt...

?

When I load the E version (CRC32: 3D7252D4), press F1 and select "save snapshot", ZSNES creates a 256x239 BMP or PNG file.

The logo is visible in both versions (E and U).
