The mainboard is probably grounding out against the case somewhere. And that somewhere is probably near where it screws in. Be careful that nothing but the ground points are touching it.

Remove the board from the case and try to boot it sitting on the table.

Sometimes, but don't rely on that. Especially not nowadays. It depends on the situation, but that would require increasing the FSB (if you motherboard can go beyond its rated) which would stress out other parts and cause problems. Check to make sure that there isn't a BIOS update for higher-rated CP...

If there was decent support for wireless on Linux, this would all be a moot point. But since that is not true, I would be more willing to give a Mac a go over a Windows laptop. You have to give Apple something, and that is that they don't fuck up in the hardware department. Get a Centrino-based lap...

Trendy and different? All the people who want to be trendy and different get them. I guess that doesn't make it very different, does it? I can see why you would buy a Mac desktop (if you buy a Macbook you are a tool, I'm sorry), but their whole "COOL people buy macs. lol are you cool? and "...

It can be a good idea to, if you are really that worried. What I did is physically disconnect the Windows drive the first time I installed. This can cause problems, though, trying to use GRUB to boot both OSes, as you have to hand edit GRUB to boot the other HD afterwards since Ubuntu's install won'...

Burning would be cool.

If you want to dissolve one, do it in Sprite or something clear so you can see. I imagine it'd still work.

I have 4 wisdom teeth, and no problems with them at all. So they'll stay.

Pain to keep clean, they are.

pSX is a far far far more accurate, compatible emulator. It is also a "load and play" emulator, whereas ePSXe requires a lot of plugin fiddling to get many games to work. That being said, ePSXe offers hardware GPU processing. While bad from an emulation accuracy standpoint, it allows for h...

Ubuntu for Gnome, Kubuntu for KDE.

If you want something "pretty," then use Kubuntu.

Konqueror is the best file browser ever, IMO.

Its also painfully easy to get beryl in the ubuntus. Talk about pretty (and useless).

It should default to enabled. But, if it isn't enabled, turn it on for a speed boost.

I'm thinking that HQ?x uses MMX regardless.

You support MMX; All CPUs since the Pentium, including AMD's K6 and above have it. SSE/SSE2 is a slightly less common on older AMD CPUs.

Well, you are either trolling or are stupid. Onboard technologies lag about 4-5 years behind modern equipment. Even the best, the ATI 200 and 945GM chipsets, are easily bested by Gefore FX 5200s and Radeon 9200s. If you have any video card, even a radeon 8500, you can use that to greater results. Gr...

Last year's Superbowl sucked. A lot of the calls were shitty and costed the Seahawks. However, this year's Superbowl was alright. I think the term "translation" is wrong. Really, a direct translation is impossible; otherwise Japanese and English would be a dialect of the same language. Games, if only at the commercial level, aren't translated. They are localized. The target CULTURE is different than the source CULTUR...

It's not hard to do the math. If the PSU is 500Watt and is using 500w (which would require a Pentium D or multi-CPU sytem and at least 5 HDs to sustain that kind of draw), the additional 10% power consumption would lead to another 50w of heat. Contrast that to the 50-60W a Core 2 CPU uses. Quite a b...

I purchased my Desktop's CPU, ram and mobo from them for $200. Quite a deal for the time, and they run very good.

It was a Soyo mobo and Celeron CPU, not the greatest choice, but they have given me exactly zero grief and overclock well.
