Sound popping in SNES9x 1.51 and ePSXe 1.6.0

Post by neo_bahamut1985 »

Okay, this may sound general, but, here I go. I've been having some strange issues on ePSXe 1.5.2 and 1.6.0 with the Eternal SPU 1.50 beta 2
whenever I make a savestate. Well, as I play a game (ISO and CD) the audio is normal. However, whenever I quicksave the game, it starts to crackle, but I save again and it goes away. This happens everytime, especially when frameskipping (this never happened on my SB Live!). In fact, to show you what I mean, I'll upload some links to have you listen to what I'm talking about: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=STS5Z9XM
There's also an SPU issue in Snes9x 1.51 in here, too.

Edit - the reason I added this to the Tech Talk is because I believe this an issue with my sound card, a Realtek HD Audio sound card. If it needs to be moved, please move it,

What OS are you using (that is important after all)?

If you are using the Windows port, use a different sound driver.

Oh! Crap. Okay,

CPU - 3.20GHz Pentium IV HT (prescott, 64-bit)
RAM - 1024MB DDR2 RAM
OS - Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Video - nVidia GeForce 7800 GT (256MB GDDR-3)
Sound - Realtek HD Audio

This problem only exists on Snes9x 1.51 and ePSXe v1.x.x. I just updated the sound card yesterday from Realtek's website. And yes, I tried switching the different drivers in Snes9x but the others sound worse (in which the SPUAsync can't be used at all, so the SPC700 timing is off).

yep. Tried chaging the latency to the all the settings and still no luck.

Edit 9:16PM - Okay, I solved the ePSXe SPU issue; when I switched the SPU plugin to Eternal SPU 1.41 and the issue has been resolved. But as for the SNES9x 1.51, the issue still remains; I've tried every combo possible.

Is it the sound card's fault that Snes9x 1.51 has screwed up sound? Or should I wait until the new Zsnes comes out and skip using Snes9x altogether?
