ePSXe 1.70 released

Post by Clements »

ePSXe 1.70 has been released.
Short changelog:
Multiple changes has been done in the Pad support.
The internal SPU plugin has been updated to the 1.7.0 version.
The iso support code has been rewritten.
The MDEC decoder has been rewritten.
A new version of the Pete's Software Plugin is included.
The XA/CDDA support has been worked in this new version.
Many things have been fixed in the cd-rom decoder and the core.
The Soft plugin is now integrated, so now a new user doesn't necessarily have to add plugins to get things going.

Wow, it's really out... creepy. Good job, ePSXe team. I'll be checking this out, plugins or no plugins...

EDIT: or maybe I won't, I guess they just updated the windows binary. Oh well, I'm sure neobahamut will enjoy...
I bring the trouble.

That was certainly a huge surprise...! Seems they added Gaussian interpolation, is there a way to have both reverb and gaussian?

Never thought I'd see the day this would happen. Giving it a go around.

I recently bought a new video card for production on my game; this will make a great usage for it whenever the Linux version is released. :)

I couldnt configure the Software plugin (the built in one) without first adding another video plugin. All 6 buttons just did nothing at all except depress while you click on them.

I'll compare it with pSX now. *EDIT* Well until now it uses a little more resources than pSX as it have slow downs on a old PC like a Slot 1 Pentium III 800 MHz with 256 SDRAM and a Geforce 2 4x limited to the board old AGP
bus of only 2x. It should run well on PC with Pentium IV or above with no problems at all. It have dualshock controllers emulated as some guns as well.
It have the advantage of running heavy protected games like Wild Arms 2, Legend of Dragoon, Strider 2 etc. unlike pSX. It's good so far.

I know; I can finally access the status menu without it crashing on me! Not only that, but when I see the FFVII battle swirl, the framerate stays at 60/60!

    accuracy,
    stability,
    playabilty,

Tomorrow I will test Tales of Eternia to see if voices run over dialog lines correctly and not the voice of the next line.

The games played so far even with slow downs ran smoothly with the Pete's Soft GPU Plunging. About Accuracy, someone who knows how to read the source could tell. It is like ePSXe emulates a Playstation with last generation mod-chip.

What do you mean "even with slowdowns ran smoothly"? Do you mean it emulates the slowdowns?

Also, ePSXe is closed source.

well, for example, you could force the game to run about 15 fps (frame limit settings), which will run about 25% speed (aka "slowdown") on NTSC games ...

am i understand it wrong?

IIRC Pete's plugins are not closed source.

Now if someone would update the SPU plugin (the internal would be great if reverb existed)....

With the old Pete's OGL2 plugin, this crash could be bypassed by enabling the Odd/even bit hack in Special game fixes.

Of course, since hat's no longer deeded, all I can say is "Great".
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.
