question about filters

Post by Toph The Earthbender »

what is the difference between the super eagle filter and the HQ filter? And which one is better? I'm using a 19 inch widescreen LCD monitor running Zsnes at 1280 x 960 DS F

whats the best resolution to run zsnes in on this monitor and what is the best filter?

"Better" depends in the game and your preferences. Try them all if you want to find out.

The difference should be visible... And HQ needs more processing power.

For LCD monitors the best resolution is the monitor's native resolution, typically the maximum that it can display.

You can tell the difference between Super Eagle and HQ just by looking at the graphics of any game and switching between the two filters. The best resolution is arguably the native SNES resolution or multiples of that. The best filter is obviously the one you deem the best, as in, your personal preference.

my monitor supports 1440x900 but there doesn't seem to be an option for that resolution.

HQ*x and NTSC are the only filters you need.
...
Well, there the only ones I'll use.

In the past I've used the simple scanline and gaussian blur filters, but NTSC obsoleted them.
HQ*x is the ONLY pattern recognition filter I've ever felt to generate an acceptable image, and it's a per-game preference for me.

I misused a word. You used a nonexistent word.

Hypocrisy, thy name is grinvader?

Anyways, what's with the uncapitalized name, anyways? You don't get to lowercase a proper noun AND be a grammar nazi!

blasphemy, indeed. e.e. cummings (or at least his editor) would be pissed.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.
