zsnes sound problems and other problems

i have ubuntu 9.04 and when i try to play the zsnes the sound is really scratchy i dont know what to do can someone give me a step by step process of the things i can do and also how can i play agenst other people on the INTERNET?






JUST TO ADD I FIGURED SOMETHING OUT WHEN I MINIMIZE THE ZSNES WITH A GAME RUNNING THE SOUND IS CRYSTAL CLEAR WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
