Well, I never played the game much, but based on your requirements, you'd probably do something like

press down
wait 1
press left
wait 1
release down
wait 1
press fire
wait 1
release left

Or something along those lines.
Maybe these people were born without that part of their brain that lets you try different things to see if they work better. --Retsupurae

it would help if you got the motion right.

d, dr, r + fire and d, dl, l + fire

where commas are one-frame delays and plus means consecutive presses.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

Do you have one second delays between the parts of the move on a real SNES?
No.

Use a one-frame delay.

DirectInput represents all bits, not just powers of 2 in an axis.

Punch whoever told you that in the face a couple times.

You want QCF+<shot button>

1- tick the "> = latest </>" box.
2- 'press ↓' (not press+release)
3- '1 frame'
4- 'press →'
5- '1 frame'
6- 'release ↓'
7- '1 frame'
8- 'release →'
9- 'press + release <shot button here>'
A- set the combo shortcut
B- ????
C- cheap one hit kills !

ooh, that's new since the last time i used the combo editor (c. 2001-02?) - it was the only way i could pull off supers in GWED.

haven't touched it since i got something with better diagonals than the old GPPs.

Yeah, it was introduced to remove the need to duplicate every single command (and thus key shortcut) when you're facing the opposite direction.
