Trying to install zsnes in XBMCbuntu Eden

Hello! I'm trying to install Zsnes on my brand-new XBMCbuntu installation on a Gigabyte E-350 board with a 16GB SSD. I've been using linux for a few months now, but I'm new to XBMC.
I went to the command line, ran the "sudo apt-get install zsnes" command and then tried to run zsnes (btw i am dumb), but got several lines of error:

Unable to poll /dev/input/event2. Make sure you have read permissions into it.

Unable to poll /dev/input/event3. Make sure you have read permissions into it.
Unable to poll /dev/input/event1. Make sure you have read permissions into it.
Unable to poll /dev/input/event0. Make sure you have read permissions into it.

Could not set 512x448 video mode: Unable to open mouse

I also tried re-starting xbmc and running it from Advanced Launcher (I pointed it to /usr/bin/zsnes) and it just hung there. Please, any help you could provide or just point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I have this build inside a NES and my intention is to game with it.
