How do I save game states in ZSNES?
I tried saving the state with & without specifying a save folder and neither worked.
Probably just user error so I wanted to see how you folks make this feature work.

Same folder as the SNES ROMs are located. Subfolder of the main folder where all other emulators also are.odditude wrote:where did you unzip zsnes to?

What version of Windows you using? In more recent versions, C:\Program Files is "special" and writes to it don't go where the program expects them to.

Something that's not a system directory.

Re: How do I save game states in ZSNES?
I always save my emulation related stuff to desktop folders, and I've never had any SS problems(using Win8) with ZSNES, 9x, or any other emu for that matter. Maybe cut/paste your "emulators" folder onto your desktop and make sure to reconfigure directories and shit like that. I've never needed to config ZSNES' paths, but you will for shit like MAME if you decide to move all your emulators to another location.

Re: How do I save game states in ZSNES?
There are no spaces for me in C:\users\xxxxxx\desktop\emulators\SNES(Win8), but I used the desktop in XP to store my emulators/roms and it did have spaces. In XP there's a folder called "documents and settings" that leads to the desktop. That's got plenty of spaces and I still used the desktop to access ZSNES when I used XP with no problems. In fact I've got an old hard drive that uses the old XP D&S folder to get to the desktop and I've got tons of ZSNES SS files in there from years ago.
Now, you know infinitely more about ZSNES than I do, but speaking from personal experience, the spaces in D&S weren't an issue. I'm bowing out now because I'm out of my element.

I trust zpath can handle that stuff fine, if not better than most other things out there.odditude wrote:...which could still cause problems for OP if there's a space in their username.
The large majority of problems always came from winders itself not respecting what read-only flags are supposed to do regarding directories.

Re: How do I save game states in ZSNES?
yeah, totally forgot about Nach beautifying that bit of code. the old days of zsnes path-handling are burned into my skull like a minimum-wage helpline agent's script.grinvader wrote:I trust zpath can handle that stuff fine, if not better than most other things out there.odditude wrote:...which could still cause problems for OP if there's a space in their username.

Re: How do I save game states in ZSNES?
I got it to save game states. Is there an easier/quicker way to load a saved game instead of loading that ROM & then going in & loading the state you desire?

You could enable auto state save/load and create a way to open your rom images in zsnes from your file browser, but you wouldn't open the state you desire.NeverEnough wrote:Is there an easier/quicker way to load a saved game instead of loading that ROM & then going in & loading the state you desire?
