Hallo,
Since I reinstalled Gentoo Linux last week I've got a problem with ZSNES 1.51.
The sound is extremely bad. I cannot quite define whats wrong, but it sounds very thin and absolutely not right. Many sounds are delayed or incorrectly played.
So I looked at the console output and saw that it is using sdl, which I had some audio problems in other emulators before.
Then I changed the audio output driver in the config file from "auto" to "oss", but it still seems to load sdl.
then I looked at the output of "zsnes -?" and saw that the only two "-ad" options available are "auto" and "sdl".
Did I miss some compile Flag, or some Library with a special option to enable oss. I remember it working in my old installation.
Edit: OK I figured out why oss is no available.
Zsnes seems to need the x86 version of libao to link with it successfully.
Because I am 100% sure, that I had propper sound in amd64, the reason for this bad sound quality must lie somewhere else.
OSS Output not available

You want to compile with libao.
There's also a good chance you want to use ZSNES v1.51b available from the ZSNES Talk forum.
