Read (about game genie NOT WORKING )

Okay for starters, it was working just fine im useing cheats for my son hes only 4 years old, and wants to play mario really bad but loses alot. So i use game Genie codes for him. But after i used Super R-Type Cheats. It says all codes i input are invaild no matter what i put in Usa pal jap all of it is wrong now. How do i fix this?
