Zsnes on Solaris: proposing README file

Post by frigault »

Hello,

I successfully compiled Zsnes on Solaris 10.
I am no volunteer to maintain a port on Solaris, and see no point in supporting the Solaris platform. Anyway, I think it might be cool to include a README file that would detail the steps needed to get Zsnes to compile.

I wrote this README.SOLARIS and hope it could get reviewed and included in Zsnes

Cheers !

Yeah pretty much. It's Sun/Oracle's OS they put on their computers.
Maybe these people were born without that part of their brain that lets you try different things to see if they work better. --Retsupurae

Yeah, you should be able to get it to compile using the instructions for the Linux port, provided you are using an x86 system.

I won't ask why you are using Solaris instead of a Linux flavour. :p

To be honest, a sysadmin installed Solaris on one of my company's laptops. It was an idée fixe of mine to compile an emulator on it (and to have working joysticks, this was tricky also :). I would love to have a correct stretched fullscreen, this will be another challenge.

Instructions for Linux build were not enough. I guess Solaris 10 comes with a make that behaves differently than the one on Linux, different system header files, etc. I detailed all the little differences in the readme file.
