Pagefault wanted suggestions for new resolutions a while ago. Custom resolutions was even mentioned, but I have no idea how that could be implemented easily.

couldnt there just be a box like in the other emus that allow you to just enter a resolution? I tried moding the cfg file and it always gts overwritten...

This would be a great feature!

I have a minipc I've built solely for emulation hooked up to my HDTV. I can run ZSNES in 640x480 with no problems, but I'd like to stretch the screen so that the games do not have blacks borders on sides.

However, due to the differences between TV and PC emulation, 640x480 is actually wider than my screen. I find that 640x432 is just right (SNES9X supports this resolution exactly, as does MAME).

What I'd like to see would be to be able to run ZSNES in 640x432 resolution and then stretch the image (without blurring it) to the extents of the screen.

Possible?

Native resolutions are:
1. 256x224 (without filters)
2. 512x448 (after 2x filters, like 2xSAI or hq2x)

So how to convert 512x448 to 640x432 ?

Don't forget that the SNES itself has a native hires 512*448 mode (SoM, SD3, and many more).

It's even more when the PAL resolution is used...

IMO, the best solution for stretching would be using the monitor controls.

Nope nope.

Console to TV == Analog auto-stretching

PAL games had the horrible black borders because the games were made to look nice in NTSC..

But the borders were created by the games, right? :?:
This would mean that the filter would have to deal with 512x478.

Nope.
The borders were created by the TV.

Look, take a 2*2 square and display it on a 200*200 square monitor. The stretching is perfect, you got your 2*2 square zoomed in 100x.
Take the same 2*2 square and display it on a 200*300 square monitor. The horizontal stretching stays the same, fixing the vertical stretching at 100x. Result is two black bars, above and below the 200*200 area (it looks like a rectangle), each being 200*50.

.... and that is why most games here have black borders, except MGS2 and a few others. :?
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.
