ZSNES Problem

Post by Kevin_79 »

Well, yesterday, ZSNES was working fine and I was playing Final Fantasy II, it was working perfectly. About an hour later, I open zsnes (btw i am dumb) and it shows a black box instead of the purplish menu. But at the top it still has the menu. I can load any game perfectly and open state(even the the open state window is in the top left corner). But the game is super slow, and everytime I try to open a new screen, such as walking through a door or going up stairs into a new room...it freezes. It won't load the next room and I cannot move my character. This isn't just for FF2 either. The problem, is that it was working perfectly just yesterday, I closed ZSNES, opened it again an hour later and there was the problem. I really want to keep my save state on Final Fantasy II aswell..as I'm about 9 hours into it. Is there anyway this can be fixed without the save state being lost?

You might want to fix that url tag a little, Paul.

sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

I read it...before hand. Im not sure of my system specs. I know I got a Pentium 2 processor, and im not sure about megahertz or anything. The CPU is pretty old. But I've had ZSNES for a while working on this. Its never had this problem.

I have Windows XP Home Edition.

Pentium II proccessor
234 MHz
96.0 mb or RAM

Pathetic...yes...but my good cpu is getting fixed. Is there anyway that I could possibly transfer a save state to a disc or something?

Well, yeah, just browse to your zsnes folder (or the place where you save your files) and look for (insert rom name here).srm or (insert rom name here).zs0 - .zs9

The first one (.srm) is battery saved (the one in rpgs for example) and the other ones (.zs0 to .zs9) are save states, the ones you use with the F keys.

I've deleted both, and the black box doesnt appear anymore. But there is still a problem. Every time i'm playing FF2, I try to open a chest or open a door...it resets. I have no idea why it does that. It was working fine yesterday.

You should do a virus/adware scan.

I downloaded the newest version of Direct X, as thats what I read to do in the FAQ if it didnt work. But it didn't help at all. It only stopped working at 5 am this morning.

Or an easier way is to go to start>run>type in dxdiag>click ok>click display and it will give you info on your video card.

ATI Technologies Inc. 3D Rage II+PCI

But the problem isnt the black box anymore. Its that when I enter a door or open a chest on FF2, it just freezes the main character and he can't move. It could be a problem with the rom...but it was working fine before.

Well, that sucks. I'm running out of ideas, I guess you could try to find another ROM.
