ZSNES won't run

I am trying to get it to run on windows vista(it works fine in ubuntu). When I click on zsnesw.exe, it just shows a black screen and nothing ever happens. It is the same problem this guy was having http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13519

I downloaded the zip for windows from here http://www.zsnes.com/ and then extracted it to a folder on my desktop. Then I ran the .exe and it creates 3 config files but the screen remains black and then if I click on it, it stops responding. I have changed the resolution settings in the zsnesw.cfg file a bunch of times but it doesn't do anything except make the black screen bigger or smaller. Also, alt+enter doesn't do anything either.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

what flavor of vista? what graphics hardware do you have? is this a desktop or laptop?

my gut instinct is you've got intel integrated graphics with old drivers - try updating your drivers.
