You're supposed to install the gamepad first BEFORE loading ZSNES.

so i installed my gamepad.. went to input in zsnes, clicked Set All, and pressed the appropriate buttons on my controller when it prompted me for which is left right etc... so they could be recognized. i thought it was going to be harder than it was, but it wasnt! im so happy now!

Wow, such an brilliant solution. I would have never, ever thought of that. Not in a million years. Who would have thought a user can configure a gamepad in Zsnes?
What?

i was just happy the EMU actually recognized my gamepad because it was acting up and wouldnt... so i was frustrated.

the cynical response was due to the fact that your "problem" was a failure to read the instructions, not an issue with the program.
