Maddening UDP problem

Post by nstinson »

I've never had a problem with playing TCP, but UDP won't work.

Last year I played a lot using UDP, but now it will not work, and I am mystified.

I have no firewalls installed or turned on (Windows firewall is off)
I use Windstream DSL, hooked through a DLink DI-604 (Firmware v2.0) Router.

I have all ports forwarded correctly. (although TCP 7845 doesn't even work well, I usually have to use an alternate TCP port, like 4200).

Even when I turn on the DMZ for my IP, it does not work. It just sits on "Connecting to client..." or "waiting for client..." indefinitely.

I have a static IP setup.

any ideas?

Are you sure they are forwarded to the correct IP? That would be my only guess.

Also, I remember hearing something about some ISP's not supporting UDP connections. However, I have no idea if that is true for Windstream, or if it is even true at all.

Good luck.
