input problems with netplay

My brother and I both have zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator).42 on our computers and the same version of double dragon. We know how multiplayer works, but once we are connected, player 2 can't move kick punch or do anything. The player 2 port on the one computer does have input keys already set and everything else works like the chat keys and options. Can someone help?

AFAIK, if you are using netplay, both use controller configuration #1 at each computer.
