Thread says it all. I know I'm pry going to get shot down (especially after last time I gave a list of the admins Nach chewed me out about it, not to mention you can see who is modded where), but can't say I didn't try.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
NSRT here.

In other words, you show a lack of respect toward us, so you've been returned the favor by getting called a retard. Sounds fair enough to me.

You get what you deserve if your typos exceed tolerable comprehension and that's generally reserved for those who's native language is not English. You aren't allowed such an excuse.

By the way, I'm mexican.

And I think, and I hope others do too, that being an admin or a moderator isn't just "lock topic, *read the rules*".

I think that we also have a responsability with the other members, in that newcomers and veterans alike, should stick to the bases of spelling and grammar, so everyone can understand what the hell are they posting, and they can get a response according to their need.

To post according to the report guidelines, so they don't bitch later that their bug/feature/request, wasn't attended in the way or form he or she expected, because he or she didn't give the necessary information.

And we also have to keep the peace, apart from the memes we have embraced as our own (AoL is a retard, even if we know he isn't. The Information flows FREELY across the internets.), because it makes our board experience more enjoyable.

Now dude, this is a board, not a chat room, no one is chasing you, there is no need to "type fast". If you had taken your time to write your post, the other members would have understood your request a lot faster. And hell, they did anyway, it wasn't what you wanted, do you know why? Because you didn't give all the information for your particular case, so the members just worked with what you gave them.

If you have problems with that, well, that's sad.

I agree with Joe here. That's generally how I try and run my board over a ROMhacking.net. If you are handling all those things, it's actually a fairly time consuming job to moderate a forum. However, the end result is usually a better, happier, community for all. It makes me feel like I'm doing something right when people come there and tell me they came to escape the stupidity on other boards to a more friendly, and fair environment on my board.

Yeah, sometimes you need to bend a rule or two for veteran community members because they've earned their stripes, but you also can't play favorites if you wish to uphold a fair place. Double standards only pisses people off.

I know Joe's attitude toward trying to use proper spelling and grammar where possible may seem anal, but I don't think it is. We are all READING here. Why would you NOT want to make it as easy as possible for people to understand what you're saying? Puposely typing without punctuation, capital letters, and poor spelling is a mentality of a class of people I don't want to see on any boards. Obviously we need to be tolerant to non naitive English speakers as well as those who may be a bit less educated, but believe it or not, this is the MINORITY of the posts that sound like they came from a 3rd grader.

Everybody else should be expected to at least GIVE AN EFFORT. Nobody is perfect with their spelling, grammar and typos, but they should at least be required to give an effort and use the abilities they do have. I don't think that's asking much.

First, using your best spelling and grammar will generally allow you to be taken more seriously. It's a sign of intelligence. Here on the internet where we judge every book by it's cover, this is important. ;)

Second, you're most likely going to receive help if you present yourself in a kind, intelligent mannor.

Third, the general image and reputation of the forum can improve if the majority of the posts are well written and intelligent.

It's a win win I think.
