the ditto trick in pokemon heartgold/soulsilver

Post by adventure_of_link »

I'm sure you all remember this being in the original G/S/C (basically you give the daycare people a gendered Pokémon and a ditto, wait awhile, and they will make an egg).

Is this in HG/SS at all? Everytime I keep trying it, the daycare man says the two Pokémon don't like each other much...
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

it's by design in all the games post gen-2, and works just fine.

my gengar and kirlia don't like each other much either, but they still produced the egg i wanted (ralts w/ mean look; used this to make my hunter - a gallade w/ mean look, hypnotize, faint attack, <any attack>).

an egg opportunity occurs every 256 steps; "not liking each other" means the chance of success every opportunity is "only" 25%. ride your bike in a circle for a couple of minutes; more than likely, there will be an egg waiting for you when you return.

Ah. So patience is the key to this here. I thought when two pokemon didn't like each other much, you won't get an egg.

Thanks man.

I could imagine some horrible pokemon rape rule 34.

And for some reason this makes me think of Isabella Rosellini's Green Porno series, the Whale episode.

Google it your damn selves, I'm too tired to look it up and link it.

If it matters anymore, the only time two Pokemon will not produce an egg in the Daycare center is if that old guy standing outside tells you that "The two seem to prefer to play with other Pokemon"
It is better to be silent and thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt

my hunter strategy worked - with him at lv 72, it only took about 15 mins to catch all three legendary birds with plain ol' ultra balls. they roam around at lv 60 and have the lowest possible catch rate in the game.

gallade w/ mean look, hypnotize, false swipe, and psycho cut kinda kicks ass at catching things. have to be careful against the birds (he's weak against flying-type attacks), but they're as likely as not to use their elemental attacks instead of air slash, etc.

after a little more leveling and catching mundane stuff, next up will be the twin dragons (lv 70). given that they can't exploit any of his weaknesses and have a higher catch rate than the birds, they should be a snap.

When he said "practically KICKS ASS" he meant "literally KICKS ASS"

Apparently kicking your DS while you play Pokemon isn't good for it.
