Problems Loading saved states and ingame saves

Im currently playing Seiken Densetsu 3 on my zsnes 1.42, but just recently I couldnt continue on from my last save spot in the game, I also tried opening my save state but it began but once I started to talk to people the game froze (And their was no sound).
