Spc question (need old zsnes version)

Post by Mark7 »

I want to rip a song from a game without the intro (bloody tears from castlevania 4 without the first 8 seconds). The newer versions of zsnes search for the songs start and then dump the spc. I don't want this.
I remember that old versions of zsnes do not search for the songstart. Now i'm wondering which version i can use for this.

On the latest version there is the following highlighted option
Image

Use it and it saves the SPC file to the folder where your ZSNES is. This file that I did was the 600 AD song from Chrono Trigger and the file did not have the small introduction.

Can you try making an spc dump of "Castlevania 4 - Bloody Tears" without the organ/strings intro?

Bloody Tears is BGM 0E at the soundtest.

I don't have that ROM so I wouldn't know. It should be possible to cut it out if you have an editing program

I hit F1 a moment before that part and selected save SPC data. Then I gzipped the file and put it on my website.

when did this feature get added to zsnes??? i remember trying to "save spc data" and found it always dumped from the point i chose the "save spc data" option it never dumped from the start of the song.

When you press Save SPC Data it saves the song at that point and rus it in a loop in a player. If you want all of the song, time it and save the SPC a soon as the song starts. That's what I've figured anyway.

If you go to save before it starts, then ZSNES waits until it starts. This time period has to be blank of sound.
