James Pond 3 bugs

Post by Stifu »

James Pond 3 has a couple of display / gfx bugs...
---------------------Internal ROM Info----------------------
File: jpond3.smc
Name: OPERATION STARFISH Company: U.S. Gold
Header: SWC Bank: HiROM
Interleaved: No SRAM: 0 Kb
Type: Normal ROM: 16 Mb
Country: Euro/Asia/Oceania Video: PAL
ROM Speed: 120ns (FastROM) Revision: 1.0
Checksum: Good 0x126D CRC32: 9D3E313F
--------------------------Database--------------------------
Name: James Pond 3 - Operation Starfish
Country: Europe Revision: 1.0
Port 1: Gamepad Port 2: Gamepad
Genre 1: Unknown Genre 2: None
The first bug I noticed is on the map, right when you start a new game... Your character should appear on that star on the left... while he appears to the right of it.

The 2nd bug is a glaring one, the character sprite is messed up while in a level... It's split in several parts. (eyes and arms appears to the right of the character...)

These bugs have been introduced in Zsnes v1.337, everything worked fine in v1.31b... And Snes9x has none of those bugs.

I always do...
And it has the bug. It's in all the ZSNES versions from v1.337 to the February 10 WIP.

The bug with Dragon exist as long I can remember, starting from Zsnes 0.60 or something, the developers know about it and I don't think it gets fixed.

Hi there the James Pond: Operation Starfish bug is still there after all this time, and has never been addressed?

I just downloaded ZSNES 1.50 (windows) and the bug is still there.

This is the only game I play in Snes9x - due to not having a choice.

The sprites are all over the place in Zsnes which is a terrible shame. :(

Post the NSRT+Frontend info of your ROM, to be sure.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

I'm surprised that no one else has posted about this bug since this thread was opened - is it not suffered by anyone else?

Another bug with JP3 and ZSNES: the "Star Wars style" text, at the end of the intro, is supposed to get darker as it's about to disappear. (Also, garbage lines appears at the top of the screen because of that text, but that kind of bug is also there in many other games)

Is anyone looking into this? You would really make my year if this was fixed after all this time. :)

No need to bump this. It won't be fixed until they say it's fixed.

It'll eventually get fixed in a future version. One has to be patient.
