Sound Problems!

Post by Grey_Fox »

Ok, a friend of mine is trying to play Tales of Phantasia, but, in her PC, the sound goes all crackly, and repeating (if you want I can upload a sound sample >.>)...
Anyways, ANY idea on how to solve this, or what might be causing it? We've tried messing around with almost (if not all) the sound options.....
Any feed back is welcome!
Thanks! :D

Maybe you should just wait for the new sound core that is currently being worked on...

You haven't mentioned the port.. which would have been helpful.

If you use any port, tweak the sound rate option and make sure the other settings are at their defaults.

If you are using SDL, make sure to compile with --enable-release and you certainly want to --enable-libao and try out different libao options via the command line.

Ermmmm, it doesn't say anything about any port O_o

Edit: Ok... After further interrogation of the subject... The game goes slight jumpy... Which PROBABLY is causing the sound problem >_>
Sorry, but she only told me this now..

Look at the picture, where it says Win version is where it tells you the port.

As for the jumpiness, you probably want to try tweaking the video options, specifically VSync/Triple Buffering.

OK, I'm taking that the PORT is the Version, because, Everything I see , is exactly equal to that screen! and the version is 1.51, is that it?
Btw, if she desables the sound, the image goes fine!

(on a side note, Even though I have no idea of what her PC is, it can run Sims 2... So it can't be that bad... Right? O_o)

Edit: after reading the other post, Yes it is Windows, sorry XD

I'm not sure if you tried my solutions already...

In any case, you could toggle the "Disable Power Management" option and/or toggle "Increase Emu Priority" in the Options menu.

Feel free to ignore my SDL comments (you are not using that port).
