Connection Problems.
I'm new here. Anyway.
Me and my friend wanted to try netplay. Here is what I did:
I started ZSNES, and created a server. So it says waiting for client or something like that.
He started ZSNES, entered my IP, and clicked Connect to server or something like that.
And it says Connecting to server and won't change... Detailed steps for both of us would be appreciated.

Mmk, I read the whole guide. I edited my router, and my Port number is
7845. Now what I think I was suppose to do was put in the port number.
And I put the nickname as ZSNES. and I filled it with my ip using IP chicken. I then clicked "Start server" Or something like that. And a message that said something like... "Waiting for Client" Came up.
I had my friend fill out his nickname (Being his real name).
He edited his router just like I did.
And he filled out my IP using my IP chicken address.
I then had him click "Connect to server" but had no progress.
How long does it generally take to connect? And if I made a mistake, please correct me.

I said ZSNES. Look. I don't know if you want a fight. But I don't.Noxious Ninja wrote:The emulator is not called zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator).Sam Flood wrote:And if I made a mistake, please correct me.
The guide I read doesn't detail on connection, but it did help me with setting it up. I just want to get details on how to connect.
Thanks for all the assistance.
Sorry about the double post.

If the versions are incompatible, they'll make a connection but they'll be informed of the version mismatch. The ROM select + chat screen only appears after they connect.
There's not much left to say but if you got a firewall enabled whether it's XP's or a commerical one, you should make an exception or disable it.

I see... problem is, it NEVER loads when I starts a server...smkdan wrote:You can only load the rom after you connect. You'll see a window where you can chat and set the netplay settings. You load the rom as normal from there and if the other guy has the same rom, the game begins.
I guess thats why I kinda need detailed instructions as in how to fill the Netplay boxes. Cause me and my friend have tried everything...
I could show you what I type in, just give me a minute or so.
EDIT: I don't believe I stated my firewall(s) is down. So. My firewall(s) is down.

This would be my view from my computer. As the host. As you can see I am about to start the server.
I would enter MY! Private ID. Which I found using run commands.
This is the screen that turned up afterward...

Now I'm thinking:
"Well great, step one out of two complete!" But no. I also updated my router if any of you forgot, but anyway. MEANWHILE: At my friends computer:

And... no connection. Not even a sign that says "Client has been found"
I really think this is an error of my mistake.

If you read my last reply. I already forwarded it. And so did my friend. So my "True" Ip I assume would be my public IP?Noxious Ninja wrote:And you'll have to forward the proper port.Deathlike2 wrote:192.168.x.x means its on a router/LAN. You need to use your true IP to connect to.
Edit: Fixed.

I'm talking about your IP, try http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/
Continuing FF4 Research...
Public IP would be the IP I gave to player two. Or the person I'm playing the game with online. But I'll try the link you sent me. Hopefully I get some results. ^^Deathlike2 wrote:Public ID? Well, he fixed his router to work with the game... but there is something that bugs me.Deathlike2 wrote:For a thought, if your friend is not behind a router, you should let them host ideally. Having a router requires you to tinker around with port forwarding, firewalls, and so many other issues...
I forwarded the application as Z_N_E_S_1 like it told me to (Without the underscores). Wouldn't it be better if I forwarded it by the applications name? ZSNESWIN?

My friend is also behind a router. And so am I, like I said I fixed it to work with the game.

I tore down my firewall(s). Not sure if he did.
