Why use KDE?

Why use KDE?

Post by DOLLS (J) [!] »

I'm currently using Gnome + Compiz, and wondering whether I'm heading in the wrong direction.

Compiz is staying, so count that as a factor.

Speak up now.

there isn't a good reason. at the end of the day I go with something else, its like an over bloated explorer clone

Keep Gnome.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

If you're not using KDE, you're not making the best of your desktop. Nothing else is as flexible.

Every other UNIX desktop enviroment is also braindead in various dialogs, see these two articles:

May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

If you find Gnome to be satisfiable then go for that that.

Try it out, I found it to be too cluttered, and the fact that all of the programs start with K just fucking infuriated me.

I agree with this, but those articles have got me thinking about giving it another shot. We'll see.

I've never used it but from what I hear (from reliable sources) it is very flexible and lets you do things your way. I have a friend who is a majoy tech head and he swears by it. I guess it just depends on what yo uwant it for and if you have the time and savvy to really trick it out nicely.

I've been using KDE ever since I've been introduced to Linux in 2003

I rather like it, for the most part.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
