Good antivirus software

Place to talk about all that new hardware and decaying software you have.

Good antivirus software

Post by neo_bahamut1985 »

Okay, I've tried AVG and Panda Antivirus and neither of them find the crappy viruses I want to remove. I would get Norton Antivirus 2008 if it weren't for one issue, it doesn't like XP's Service Pack 2. I used it over two years ago and it crashed my system altogether, thus forcing me to reinstall XP. Now that it's been that long, I don't know how stable Norton Antivirus is now. So, could you give me some suggestions on some pretty nice software?

Anti-Vir is another great software to use.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

I second NOD32 as well...100% "in the wild" virus protection.

I've heard only good things about Avast, personally.
I bring the trouble.

Are there any good home editions of these programs so I don't have to buy one..? But that Avast one sound good to me.

Yep. Just downloaded and installed Avast. Man, wish they'd make more free programs like this!

NOD32 and Kaspersky are the two best choices if you want to pay...or be illegal. Across the board, they beat out all the competition. Kaspersky is probably the best overall, but NOD32 is not as CPU heavy. Your choice.

As for the free alternatives, AntiVir, Avast, and AVG are all good choices, though I personally think Antivir the best of them.

general consensus on AntiVir: agreed
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
