Post by Panzer88 »

The Sega Saturn emulator SSF has just released Ver0.12 Beta R2

Compatibility has recently gone up for some good games and this is a very stable emulator in my experience.

you may find it here

HERE and the Google translation of that site

HERE

there is also an unofficial compatibility list which is VERY up to date HERE

and a rundown of what the different settings in the options menu mean and do HERE

here is his twitter http://twitter.com/#!/FessX

happy playing!

I personally think that SSF justifies a sticky, so your request is granted.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to contact the SSF developers if you only speak english? or if they have any feature request forum?

it'd be cool if they could add support to directly load CD Images, vs. just a CD drive, I guess for the best results right now I'll just use a virtual drive (usually faster than burning a cd and running it on a real drive)

SSF has a forum: http://www4.rocketbbs.com/741/phantasy.html

...

But unless you're fluent in japanese, the forum is useless to you.

You can always BabelFish the changelog, although it won't be pretty.

Waiting for people to babelfart the changelog so I can mock the horrible katakana mangling... I mean, answer them.

* Fixed a bug in VDP2 rotation rendering.
* Fixed a bug in VDP2 cycle pattern specification.
* Display gaps in most software should now be corrected; this raised the system requirements slightly.
* SUTEETO SEEBU BAAJON was changed (eg older save states are not compatible with this newer version.)

lol... oh lord...Sometimes I almost find it easier reading native Japanese than all the "SEEBU-SUTEETO-PAASOKON-ORANJI JUUSU INSUCHICHUUTO PAWA ON-OFU SUI-CHI" crap
Save state (State Save) version?
Indeed... Doesn't really sound like the original, doesn't it? Compared to English, Japanese has a very limited sets of sound.

It is easier to read native Japanese than it is to read Romanized.

But this isn't native japanese. "State save version" is ENGLISH. We're trying to make sense of something that's been transliterated twice. Which isn't QUITE as bad as babelfishing, then unbabelfishing, but...

Many real people suck at accurately retranscripting to english an english word that was "flattened" into japanese syllables. It takes a very different set of skills than real japanese->english work.

A bot... not expecting anything really. It's probably better if they leave it at that.

sums up so far:

steps:
  1. english plain text
  2. transliterated into japanese
  3. apply romanjization
  4. transliterated (translated?) into engrish

now you have: a silly text encrpyting scheme

Number 3 doesn't make sense? Either you indeed romanjization, which is the process of transliterating it into japanese characters, or you meant romanization, which is transliterating it into english characters.
