Hey Gideon, you know the StarFox 2 logo you use in this post? For some reason, my "official" copy of SF2 has another logo. :? Why's that?
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Want to explain what exactly is your official copy and where you got it from (don't mention any ROM sites)?

Nach, the one I got wasn't recognized by NSRT, but by using the -fix command, I got it fixed to get reognized by NSRT. Also, it works fine with Snes9X. I checked on the AG website and I got the copy that GoodSnes recognizes (which I belive is Star Fox 2 (Beta TD) (J)
Before scanning with NSRT:

Code: Select all

NSRT v3.3 RC1 - Nach's SNES ROM Tools

---------------------Internal ROM Info----------------------
File: Star Fox 2 (Beta TD) (J) [o1].smc
Name: STAR FOX 2 Company: Nintendo
     Header: SWC Bank: LoROM
Interleaved: No SRAM: 256 Kb
Type: Super FX (MC1) ROM: 8 Mb
    Country: Japan Video: NTSC
ROM Speed: 200ns (SlowROM) Version: 1.0
   Checksum: Bad 0x6D6C != 0x0000    CRC32: 1FB1CF76
--------------------------Database--------------------------
ROM wasn't found in the database (possible bad dump).
You can try using -fix or -findover to see if the
file has been slightly altered and rectifiable.
After fixing the ROM with NSRT (and naming the file beforehand)

Code: Select all

NSRT v3.3 RC1 - Nach's SNES ROM Tools

---------------------Internal ROM Info----------------------
       File: star fox 2.smc
Name: STAR FOX 2 Company: Nintendo
     Header: SWC Bank: LoROM
Interleaved: No SRAM: 512 Kb
Type: Super FX + Batt ROM: 8 Mb
    Country: Japan Video: NTSC
ROM Speed: 200ns (SlowROM) Version: 1.0
   Checksum: Good 0x5F3F CRC32: 79F3433D
--------------------------Database--------------------------
Name: Star Fox 2 (Private Build)
Country: Japan Version: 1.0
Port 1: Gamepad Port 2: Gamepad
Would this be the official copy, or not?

There is no 'official' copy. However the one NSRT recognizes is the best one around at the moment.

How about if I fixed it to make it the one NSRT recognizes?

NSRT's -fix turns broken ROMs into their correct counterparts. Now that NSRT recognizes it, you have the best ROM available. There is no difference.

That's frickin odd, because Gideon's translation patch keeps screwing up. Like it would make noises, then flash yellow on Snes9X. And, Snes9X crashed. I hard patched it on ZSnes, and it crashed.
Edit: Nevermind, I obtained a copy of SF2 with the Stafox2 image like the one posted at the beginning to the thread. It was already translated patched, and it works great. Thanks for the help.

NSRT is one useful tool. And it looks like you've become another filter victim.

we redid the logo because the old one looked quite ugly and
only made use of 4 of 32 possible colours.(new logo:24)
i rendered the new logo in 3d studio max and retouched
it with paint shop pro.
turned out pretty nice, imho.

MorteTheSkull wrote:Err, I've got the ROM, used NSRT on it (I think) and applied both patches, but when I load it I get something like "SPC700 stall detected". Bad ROM? Or am I not using NSRT right? It's really weird when I'm running it, like, a DOS type of window loads up briefly, a bunch of text scrolls by, and then it closes. Different text scrolls if I drag the ROM onto it (which I seem to remember a similar tool worked by doin). I am guessing I am not doing it right. Oh, and since I know this will be added regardless, I will just say it. (BTW, I am dumb)
Um, you should only apply one of the patches. One is a straight translation, the other removes the debug info and non-working options AS WELL as applying the translation. You only need to use one patch.

Edit: NSRT uses the command line. You need to open the Command console to use it.
