Viewing DVD image galleries on a computer

Post by Johan_H »

MPC and VLC at least seems unable to do this. Does anyone know of a player that isn't (or of another way to do it)?

Do you mean to manage a set of DVD rips on a hard drive? If that, why not get a DVD rip manager and let it open MPC or VLC with a command line to start it?

I believe he means those Photo DVDs where you can watch slideshows of photos on your standalone DVD-Player. I cannot remeber ay freeware players that support this, but also I have not used such a feature at all.

I mean like the ones that come as 'bonus features' on movie DVD's, with production photos and concept art and such. That probably wasn't clear.

you know instead of putting that space between the smiley you can check the box that disables smileys in posts..
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

I know damnit, but spaced smiley looks sadder.

See?
I actually put more spaces there but the board doesn't allow for that.

Why is that?
Due to how the DVDs are authored.

most of the these DVD photo galleries on DVD's usually have a DVD menu interface for them, that either have the next and back as selectable actions or use the next track/angle buttons.

the only free windows player I know that supports the angle function is Media Player Classic.
Does [Kevin] Smith masturbate with steel wool too?

That's my problem. When I select View Photo Gallery or whatever, I can't do anything after that. Next/back/angle doesn't work as it does with a standalone player.

as anything,
it's just a matter of software and time.
there is no reason why it cannot work.

Except that the DVDs with image galleries spin backwards!11111

Or is that not funny now that people have quit claiming it about every new disk that comes by?

Which DVD and where did you get it?

Alien 3 (Worth it for the extra stuff, they pretty much sit and explain why it turned out so bad :D) at some mall.
I've also tried the DVDs from the Star Wars Trilogy whith the same result.
Should that matter at all?

Some time ago I was going through all Alien 1..4 DVDs, loaned from a relative (even saved some stills here). Unfortunately I don't remember the DVD player - it might've been Media Player Classic, VLC or WinDVD...

Maybe you can go to the pictures directly via the "Navigate" submenu?

You can try it in mplayer using the dvdnav:// location. That should get you through menus and mplayer also has angle selecting support.
