Zsnes runs in slow motion, please help...

Post by mase85 »

Okay i'll try to put as much detail as possible, i have Zsnes V1.42, i just installed it on a new computer and i find that games seem to run in slow motion. For example when i try to play any of the megaman x games and the capcom logo comes up, it plays that jingle really slow and everything just sorta chops. I have tried the latest version and it acts the same way.

CPU: intel core 2 duo 3.16 Ghz

GPU: MSI Nvidia 9800 GTX Plus 512 MB OC edition

Mobo: Asus P5QL Pro

RAM: GeiL 2GB dual channel 1066 (running at 800)

PS: NZXT 650 W

OS: Windows XP professional

thank you..

to get it out of the way, make sure you have SP3 and all other windows updates, and the latest intel chipset and nvidia graphics drivers installed. close any other running programs to rule out any stupidity there.

and are you using 1.42 for any particular reason? there are newer releases, try them as well.

that being said, are you running fullscreen or windowed, what resolution, what filters?

edit: and make sure your CPU isn't thermal-throttling (aka did you mount your heatsink properly?)
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

If you use the latest version, make sure to delete the old config files first.

Hey i was on a budget, seems to be working good so far. Besides that was the only ram i could find that was listed to run at 1066 with my motherboard even though it doesnt : / but thats an issue with my motherboard i think.

Anyways yeah i tried affinity and all that, i think i fixed the problem however. I enabled VSYNC under video and it fired right up normally after that. Thanks for the help though.

Lastly whats wrong with GeiL? Seriously im curious to know, i dont overclock so should i be worried about something?

Nothing. "geil" means horny in Dutch (and maybe also in other Germanic languages), so that's what probably turned myst on.

Haha oh, probably why they spell it like GeiL. Interesting.
