It...froze.

Post by Tah »

Okay. I was playing Chrono Trigger. Been playing for several hours today. I had just gotten past the whole "resurrecting Crono" bit, and I finished that up and went back to the End of Time. (I have no idea if any of this helps or not, but I'm going to list it anyways. :P)

But, anyways, I hit the F2 button to save state and it froze. Just... randomly froze up. So, I closed it and opened it up again, then hit F4 to open the saved state. It came back up, yeah, but it was back at the frozen screen. So then I re-loaded the game to try and open the game that I saved at an actual save point, not on the save state feature. And...it's not there. It goes to the "New Game" screen, where it gives me the Battle Type option, followed by the screen where you can change Crono's name. My saved game is gone.

Is there any way to get any of my game back? I really want to finish the game, but I don't really want to replicate over 30 hours worth of gameplay again, either. o_o;

The answer is no. Saving a state when the game freeze is never a good idea.

Additionally, if you haven't been saving in-game regularly, you really need make sure that works by defining a save directory.

Oh man, this happened to me while playing Final Fantasy VI, though I can't say I put in 30 hours of gameplay. I ended up buying it for the Gameboy Advance (somehow I got it new for $20), and never experienced another freeze.

Sorry that you had to go through thta. :oops:

Use multiple save slots, even if it's to rotate through every hour. YOU HAVE 100 SAVE SLOTS PER GAME, USE THEM! (Press F3, then up or down, as well as left or right on the arrow keys and select the slot.) When in doubt of what key to press, escape back to the menu and save state there.

There's even auto-increment so you save in a new slot every time. No excuses.

Except the GBA Corr....port has a whole range of bugs, such as timing issues, and graphical corruption (been there seen that)
