Snake Rattle 'n' Roll.

Oh, and the weird one with the little cowboy that turns into a woodlouse, quite mario-like. Anyone remember the title?

Or perhaps I have different tastes. That could be it too.
CRAZY, I know!
And I want a different flavour because I like different flavours. The music doesn't have to change just because it has different sounds.
Yes, it kinda DOES have to change to sound different.

Then you have been doing it wrong!

There are some Megaman SID remixes in the HVSC, BTW. None from II though.

I meant that the melodies and riffs remain the same but with a different sound, sorry I didn't make myself clear.

I am always open for re-interpretation and remixing. Why are you so much against that?

Most remixes rape the original author intent.

Never been a big fan of non-author-made remixes.

I disagree. I think remixes can often offer a different view on one theme and add something new to it.

Conquest of the Crystal Palace.... isn't that the Dragonball game?

I'm just questioning that you would call it one of the best-sounding games of the era, then immediately turn around and wish it was different.

If you don't see that as a contradiction...
It's like saying "Man, this is the best guitar solo ever! I wish there was an orchestral version!"

Well, I am the kind of person who would say that sort of thing. It might be a contradiction to you but it makes perfect sense to me. I am a musician myself and I love all kinds of music. I've heard a techno/futurepop version of Metallica's Fade To Black and it kicked ass despite not having any guitars in it.

To be fair he wishes for more versions of the tunes, not really that they were different. Which I can understand considering how for example I love the DK Country soundtrack, and still find parts of it to be much better in DK Land.
C64 conversions/interpretations of game soundtracks are usually very interesting I think. I would love to hear what someone like Jeroen Tel would have done with Mega Man II.
Nothing wrong with more versions of something good, is there?

Except they mostly suck.

And turning something good into something bad is pretty wrong by many standards.

I have heard many covers that surpass the original in many aspects, and many remixes I've heard I prefer over the original version.

So I'll have to disagree that they mostly suck and I love to hear more versions of a theme. Especially the Megaman II music, it can be done in so many styles and variations that there is always room for another remix.

Ignore if you don't like? It's not like the originals are going anywhere.

But anyway, we got a bit sidetracked.

Has anyone ever played Arkista's Ring?

I've heard of it. I don't think I've ever actually played it, though.

...

Did I plug Metal Storm yet? Yes? Crap.

Ummm....

StarTropics and Zoda's Revenge?

...

You'd think I'd be able to find more titles.

Ah, there we go... Burai Fighter. Another scrolling shooter.

Exactly.

But you're asking what would be wrong with making bullshit out of the originals, and that's the answer.

Why don't you judge each remix or cover by itself rather than having so much prejudice against remixes?

Like the music world centers around Madonna? And I thought it was a decent cover at the least.

just my own subjective opinion:

there're some music that is remixes friendly (yes, Megaman 2 music were notabily in this category)
but most of 'em were not.
chronocross musics was in this category, i notice my on tendency to hate the remix from it.

Well, I feel we are constantly getting off topic here...

But anyway, more rare NES games, please. I want to try them.

That's a common trend around these premises. Nothing to worry about.
