Saving on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Hi. I was just wanting to know how to save on Super mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. I tried using the save state (the game itself doesn't seem to save automatically), it wasn't able to load the state. Can I save in the game on SMW 2? Or, if I have to use the save state, can someone point out what I might be doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have the folder set to read-only (or you're loading the game off of some optical disk based media).

And yes, you can save in-game on Yoshi's Island, IIRC you have to clear the castles in order to do so.

Try setting your saves directory to a folder that has read/write access.

Idk if it's just the particular ROM I'm using, but it won't. I even played up through the first castle, and it still didn't save.

Yeah, but the problem I was having now was HOW do I designate a folder to save to, but I think I figured it out. I went to Configurations and in the Save box I typed "C:\\Users\\(my name)\\Documents\". I tried exiting the emu and downloading the same ROM again, lo and behold, it took me right to where I had left off.

Yeah, again, sorry about that. After you PM'ed me I was trying to figure out how to write the save path to go to the folder I wanted the ROM to save to. I ended up going to Configurations in the emu menu and typed in that save path I mentioned in the above post (C:\\Users\\(my name)\\Documents\\), and it's been working since. I can use the Save states and the ROM will save the way it did on the original cartridge. Again, thanks for your help!
