Saving on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Hi. I was just wanting to know how to save on Super mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. I tried using the save state (the game itself doesn't seem to save automatically), it wasn't able to load the state. Can I save in the game on SMW 2? Or, if I have to use the save state, can someone point out what I might be doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have the folder set to read-only (or you're loading the game off of some optical disk based media).
And yes, you can save in-game on Yoshi's Island, IIRC you have to clear the castles in order to do so.
Try setting your saves directory to a folder that has read/write access.

<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

My apologies if I was being intrusive, Adventure of Link, I didn't figure out until now that I had to click on "Quote" to reply on the thread.adventure_of_link wrote:Sounds like you have the folder set to read-only (or you're loading the game off of some optical disk based media).

But, I'll give what you suggested a shot and see if it works. I appreciate your help. May I suggest, though, that if you don't want people PM-ing you, to deselect the PM option in your settings? The PM link was there, so I thought it would be ok.
After I enter that text in the PATH line, how do I designate which folder to save to?adventure_of_link wrote:Sounds like you have the folder set to read-only (or you're loading the game off of some optical disk based media).

Yeah, but the problem I was having now was HOW do I designate a folder to save to, but I think I figured it out. I went to Configurations and in the Save box I typed "C:\\Users\\(my name)\\Documents\". I tried exiting the emu and downloading the same ROM again, lo and behold, it took me right to where I had left off.Deathlike2 wrote:It's most likely not the ROM, but your folder read/write permissions.
Make sure you define a save directory that has full read/write permissions.

but yeah, PM'ing me asking me how to set your save path was kinda redundant... say I was one of those users that posts once or twice a month in the end you would've been better asking here.
I tend to keep my PM boxes open in case of conflict resolving, board issues, whatever.

Yeah, again, sorry about that. After you PM'ed me I was trying to figure out how to write the save path to go to the folder I wanted the ROM to save to. I ended up going to Configurations in the emu menu and typed in that save path I mentioned in the above post (C:\\Users\\(my name)\\Documents\\), and it's been working since. I can use the Save states and the ROM will save the way it did on the original cartridge. Again, thanks for your help!adventure_of_link wrote:It's all good. and you're welcome.comgeek26 wrote:My apologies if I was being intrusive, Adventure of Link, I didn't figure out until now that I had to click on "Quote" to reply on the thread.

Considering your post count, if that was the case you would have been on these forums for a couple 100 or so years.adventure_of_link wrote:It's all good. and you're welcome.comgeek26 wrote:My apologies if I was being intrusive, Adventure of Link, I didn't figure out until now that I had to click on "Quote" to reply on the thread.

I have to ask, where did you get that little animation box at the bottom of your posts that says to type out your words instead of using words like ROTF and LOL.? I love it. I couldn't agree with it more.adventure_of_link wrote:Sounds like you have the folder set to read-only (or you're loading the game off of some optical disk based media).

He hasn't realized there's a reply button yet. He thinks you can only reply to a thread by quoting.
