Chrono Trigger. The gift that keeps on giving.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles & Darkside Chronicles. Great fun.

Also, Lollipop Chainsaw. <3
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

i'm curious about lollipop. it didn't review well, but still seems like it'd a fun. what's your opinion? Aside from the <3.

ME3 on insanity. I didn't think the ending was terrible like the rest of the internet, but after three games and all those years, no ending will ever really be good enough to me. I have yet to see the extended cut stuff.

And DA2. I'm not far enough in to pass judgement, although it does feel easier. Can't say if the story is any good or not. It's fun enough, and for five bucks, I won't complain too much.

I played the first stage and a half. It's hilarious.
Stage and a half because it crashed on me in the middle of the second stage. That was less inspiring.
And then Lavos beckoned, and I had to set it aside to SAVE TIME.

The gameplay isn't quite as smooth as, say, Bayonetta but there are a lot of different combos, and generally the action is fluid enough. Dialogue and characters are indeed hilarious. Pop culture and video game jabs left and right (both western and japanese) and various overblown stereotypes (Like a disco pimp zombie with a keytar who speaks via autotune and rides an UFO).

There are QTEs in various forms here and there.

The game does get a bit repetitive I suppose, which is what most reviewers complained about. The game's kinda like what would come out if you put No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned through a grinder and sprinkled the whole thing with rainbows and hearts.

Not so sure. You're implying there are only horribly awful grindfest experiences or brilliantly devised, rewarding grindfests.
I seriously doubt that.

I'm implying that grindfest is an unambiguously negative term and an instance of it cannot be decent.

It'd be like a saying a movie was a decent snorefest of an action flick.

Unless I'm missing something??

But it's not an unambiguously negative term, since there are a number of individuals who absolutely love grindfests. Of course, I would say those people are unambiguously totally off their rockers insane. One has to be off their rockers to enjoy a tenuously rewarding and highly repetitive activity.

Grinding is not rewarding. Many a game has been dropped by me because it turned into repetitive grinding.
I'd rather see new things and new challenges than do the same thing over and over and over.

True story: Grinding refers to what the buttons will do to your fingertips by the time you're done.

But then you discover Disgaea... ah Disgaea, wonderful game that is, shame how it doesn't seem to work on many LCD TV's via Component A/V? Or has that changed in recent times?

Yeah, Disgaea, La Pucelle and Phantom Brave don't play nice with a component cable. You need teh SCART of Ultimate Power(tm)

yeah, just played through SoulBlazer "normally" last night (on guides, battery only, no FFwd, no savestates). took 5 mins to powerlevel to 29 (since the exp rolls in so quickly) and then humiliated Deathtoll. actually died twice on the airship/bird boss til i remembered how passive-aggressive you need to be in that fight.

you really go from "effective" to "god-like" the moment you get the SoulBlade and can equip Phoenix. clearing that final monster lair was oh so satisfying :D

I've been playing quite a few games:

* Top Gear 2
* Final Fantasy IX
* Super Mario Bros 3
* Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
* Dissidia: Final Fantasy (both regular and 012)
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?
