wow, as it turns out, the problem only exists when you view the html from a local source. anotherwords, i get one result from the web, and a completely different one viewing off my hdd. wonder why that could be? it could be issues with the css file not being found, but it has to be because links, the header, etc, are all being formatted according to the css file (if that makes sense). This is all too weird. Download the source yourself and see if the same problem happens with you: http://richardc.silohware.com/zsnes_docs.zip

Ah yes, now it screws up just like you described. I had only tried it online before, since this is the first time I've ever heard of any difference between reading an html file online and offline. I really know nothing about html, but at least now we know what the problem actually is.

Messed up

Post by gaijinx1 »

It seems that "GUI.html" displays the first letter on each line as half of what it supposed to be, i.e. only half the letter shows up. But I can tell what letters they really are, so it's no real biggie to me. Frankly, I could care less, but I won't because that would piss many people off. So, I'll care about it, but I won't do anything about the display problems, too much trouble for me. Oh, well. Hope it gets fixed.

Looks like one of the last major things I was pushing for before the big release has now pretty much been secured.

Guys, please try to cut out our work for us. I'd like fully updated docs within a weeks time. I'll try to pitch in too, but I have stuff on the emulation side to take care of.

If you guys are going to advertise full XHTML compliance, you might want to make sure it actually validates. As it stands right now, the page doesn't even come close.

hehe That's a common mistake! I like to advertise compliancy as well and every now and then I don't remember to validate the page after I update it and *gasp*... i missed a tag or something and it doesn't validate!

It certainly puts a bit of egg on your face when someone points that out!

Of course, some of those errors would be resolved by setting the Doctype to XHTML 1.0 Transitional instead of 1.1.

Can somebody tell me for certain whether or not ZSNES 1.40 will have real-time S-DD1 decompression?

I don't know for sure, but I think the documents mention a few things about the S-DD1 having better implementation. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

OK, one last thing, I think. Should a man page even have a contributors section?

I personally think that there should be one. I think... I would really help the Zsnes team.

Can't tell you for certain, but the thread that's in the developement forum seems to be a pretty big hint to me. Unless Nach is trying to screw with us on purpose :D

before you criticise - get the latest info.

that is not the correct url for the documentation (much newer at http://richardc.silohware.com/ ), and ALL of the errors from that validator URL is because of GeoCities added advertisements. If you had just given it a 2 sec look.....

There's a broken image in the Quick Menu section even though there isn't. Using IE 6 to check.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

Okay, let's have a look...

Synopsis:

- Put synopsis before description so that it ends up right after the name

Options:

- Mark out which options happens to be the default ones

Files and Commands:

- zsnes is not on it's own line
- Spelling mistake in ~/.zsnes, "The is" should be "This is" (first line)
- Typo in ~/.zsnes, "behavious" should be "behaviour" (second-to-last line)
- Spelling mistake in ~/.zsnes/zsnesl.cfg, "where configuration settings" should be "where the configuration settings" (first line)

Misc:

- Add in Author, Reporting Bugs and Copyright information. While not strictly neccessary, it's a good thing to have.

Other than that, looking good. 8)

yeah, i've never been able to figure that one out. same porblem occurs in every browser i open gui.htm in. code seems fine though, and validator doesn't find anything wront with the xhtml or css it uses. very odd problem indeed... anyone have an idea as to why it doesn't work?

By the way, it doesn't work locally either. Same issue.

I can't access quick.png at all.

I tried to make a HTML Help file of the site, but it has problems such as the css not working at all and positioning errors.
