Are .srm's (not) being created? Do they have the same names as your roms?

Also, check if Windows 'hide file extension' is switched off.

...and do what Joe asks.

Try enabling "SRAM Check + Save" in the Options. And do make sure you are using the latest version of ZSNES, which is 1.42.

Not sure if anyone is still around, but I am having the precise problem of the original poster and can't figure out why. I played DKC 1 quite a bit and used Candy's save barrels--NOT emulator save states--and when I fire up the game today, there is nothing in the game slots.

I have a SNES directory that contains zsnesw.exe and associated files, as well as the ROM and (what should be) the savefile.

ROM: Donkey_Kong_Country_(USA)_(Rev 2).sfc [4,096 KB]
Save: Donkey_Kong_Country_(USA)_(Rev 2).srm [2 KB]

Using the newest ZSNES.

I tried checking "SRAM Check+Save" -- it did not make any difference.
I did note that "Load Savestate with SRAM" was already checked -- don't know if that's a problem.

Would greatly appreciate any advice! Thanks.

Thanks for the reply! I wish that were the problem...

Files are in C:\oldgames\SNES

This is really baffling and caused me to stop using the emulator unless it can be remedied. Not being able to use emulator saves is one thing, but not being able to use the game save is just silly.

Honestly, as ZSNES has not been updated in over a decade, it may be for the best to change to SNES9x or BSNES anyways. There are numerous known emulation issues in ZSNES that are not going to be fixed any time soon.

DirectInput represents all bits, not just powers of 2 in an axis.

Thanks for the advice--saves seem to be working just fine with SNES9x. Didn't know about the other emulators.

And thanks to all those who wrote with suggestions!
