Post by Nach »

Does anyone still use this?
Has anyone used this in the past 5 years?

If you have, please explain your experiences.

I never got it to work right. Tried it many times with my modem.

That's what I wanted to know, I never got it to work either. If no one has ever gotten it to work, may as well remove support for it.

Yeah, take it out. Most people who want to netplay use the Windows version almost exclusively anyway.

I agree with Agozer. DOS netplay isn't needed anymore. And with the removal of DOS netplay, we may get speed fixes in the DOS port :P

I never bothered using the DOS netplay.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

I think ages ago me and someone else tried getting IPX working through Kali, and it would not connect.

I think I used DOS IPX netplay like twice in the computer labs in college, right before the release of the windows port. It can go.

Adding direct-dial netplay in the windows port might make it easier for the netplay and router-inept though, and could actually be faster by bypassing much of the IP overhead and internet lag, especially for dialup users.

I think we can drop it then, since we don't have the source for it anyway.
