Video Resolution...
I have Zsnes installed on my Debian GNU/Linux sarge.
I can't use resolution bigger than 640x480 'cause it slows too much... But there's no reason on my pentium 2.4ghz with 256mbram and 64mb video card.
...I'm a linux noob of course. Please help! Thanks!

Did you install the Linux drivers for your video card?
Do other OpenGL apps exibit this behavior? (As a quick test, try running glxgears or an OGL screensaver at something greater than 640x480)

It is better to be silent and thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Would sound like.
Try full screen? I'm not sure how X handles full screen resolutions and color space.

This text is proof you're using a rather old zsnes version. Please update to a recent version to check if there's any improvement.Kinleb wrote:You are running in 32 bpp, but ZSNES is forcing 16 bpp.
You may experience poor performance and/or crashing.
Is this the problem?

the 16bpp in 32bpp problem might be it, but if glgears is running slow, then your drivers arent set up correctly. i remember this from trying to set nvidia drivers up in mandrake. go to #nvidia on irc.freenode.net (IRC), and ask them about it. im sure they will be able to help. for me, i dont think it was a hard fix to get them to work; i think i had to uncomment something, or maybe just the opposite...

Yeah... I think openGL drivers aren't set up correctly. Do you know how?Richard C. wrote:the 16bpp in 32bpp problem might be it, but if glgears is running slow, then your drivers arent set up correctly. i remember this from trying to set nvidia drivers up in mandrake. go to #nvidia on irc.freenode.net (IRC), and ask them about it. im sure they will be able to help. for me, i dont think it was a hard fix to get them to work; i think i had to uncomment something, or maybe just the opposite...
